Marilyn Webner Obituary

Marilyn Wynette Webner

Sergeant Bluff

Marilyn Wynette Webner, 91, of Sergeant Bluff passed away at home with family by her side on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, at the Community United Methodist Church in Sergeant Bluff with visitation at 1 p.m. Waterbury Funeral Service of Sergeant Bluff is in charge of arrangements.

Marilyn was born and raised in rural Nevada, Iowa. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1949. She attended Simpson College and the University of Northern Iowa where she obtained an elementary education degree and a master's degree in reading. She taught in Zearing Elementary School in Zearing, Iowa, and Cedar Heights Elementary School in Cedar Falls, Iowa, throughout her career.

She married Robert Dalziel in 1951. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Bob and Kathy. The family spent most of their years living in Cedar Falls. After Robert passed, Marilyn was blessed to find love again when she met Dennis Webner in 1973, and they were married that year. Like Marilyn, Dennis was widowed and had two young sons, Chris (age 5) and Steve (age 1). With the marriage, she left her teaching career and embraced the boys, raising them as her own, legally adopting them in 1975.

The family spent most of their years together in Mapleton, Iowa, and eventually Sergeant Bluff after retirement. In her free time Marilyn enjoyed playing piano and guitar, reading, and most of all spending time with family. She had a patient and kind heart and was very generous in sharing with those less fortunate than her. She loved animals, had a strong faith in God, and never spoke an unkind word. She was a true lady. Marilyn was a participating member of the Community United Methodist Church of Sergeant Bluff. She participated in many church committees and circles through the years.

Marilyn is survived by her adoring husband, Dennis; children Bob (Lorraine) Dalziel of Omaha, Neb., Kathy (Leonard) Luebker of Columbus, Neb., Chris (Lauri) Webner of Panora, Iowa, and Steve (Stacie) Webner of Le Mars, Iowa; many loved grandchildren Karin Dalziel (Geoff Balliet), Melissa Dalziel (Josh Vaughn), Cassandra Dalziel (Heath Mitchell), Joshua (Sarah) Luebker, Luke, Matthew, and Grace Webner, Colton (Josie) Webner, and Cade Webner; cherished great-grandchildren Taylor Dalziel, Aidan Holt, Hudson Luebker, and Iyla Webner; and loved brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Dalziel; and parents Raymond and Jessie (Tollefson) Hubbard.
