Carl W. Jacobs, Sr. 1940 - 2018
Springfield, IL—Carl W. Jacobs Sr, 77, of Springfield died at 5:03 pm, Monday, February 26, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born August 6, 1940 in Springfield to John and Leah (White) Jacobs. He married Karen S. Davis in 1963.
Surviving are his wife, Karen; four children, Phillip Davis of Schaumburg, Carl Jacobs, Jr. and Wendy Jacobs (Bob Black), both of Springfield and Donald (Cheri) Jacobs of Auburn, four grandchildren, two great-grandsons; one brother, Stanley (Sally) Jacobs of Godfrey and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Jacobs.
Carl had owned Jacobs Florist before working and retiring at Lowes as a manager.
Carl loved traveling, yard work, computers, grilling and corvettes. He was very artistic.
Visitation: 4 - 7pm Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield. An additional visitation will be held from 11 – 11:30 am, Monday March 5, 2018 at South Side Christian Church.
Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Monday, March 5, 2018 at South Side Christian Church with Pastor Matt McClane officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

I am so very sorry to hear about Carl's passing. Carl and I have known each other for about 40 years. Since his vegetable stand days. We were always glad to bump into each other. He always had a nice word to say, a laugh and a smile. I will miss him greatly. I am very sad for his family. I know this is a great loss for them.

I consider myself truly blessed for I have walked among the giants, the Jacobs brothers. I worked under Carl when I was 14, over 50 years ago. Under his tutoring, the work ethic my father instilled in me continued to mature and grow and helped me to be who I am today. Along with he and Karen by his side I also saw his love and devotion for family. It was Carl who introduced me to Kenny a lifelong friend. I last saw Carl at my daughters wedding where we joked about me always saying I was going to get into his family someday and sort of did.
To Karen and family please know you are in my prayers. May God bless you all and wrap you in His blanket of love and grace.

Carl was a patient of mine, but had a way of making me feel like family. He always asked about my kids and when he saw us in Lowe's he gave them build a car kits. They loved it! He was funny and kind and made everyone feel special. I'm so sorry for your loss. This world hasn't lost a great man.

I lost a wonderful friend yesterday. Although it states weve been friends for 3years, it seems as if Ive known you for a lifetime. You were always there eager to listen and ask questions. You shared many of your favorite memories not only with me but everyone you came in contact with. You had and still have a Heart of Gold. Mahalo for making a big impact on me. He was a fun guy to be around at the White family reunions. I can remember Carl, Kenny and my dad ( James Ruby ) always talking politics. I have a picture of Carl, Kenny and my dad at a family reunion in Springfield....Carl will be surely missed.
