George E. Von De Bur 1932 - 2021
Chatham, IL—George E. Von De Bur, 88, of Chatham, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at his home. He was born December 25, 1932, in Springfield, the son of Frank and Juanita Welch Von De Bur. He married Patricia Lorene Ulm May 22, 1955 and she preceded him in death October 3, 2016.
Also preceding him in death are his parents; daughter, Diane P. Roth; brother, Robert Von De Bur; and sister, Kathryn Brown.
Survivors include one daughter, Vicki L. (Ralph) Jones of Chatham; four grandchildren, Kelly C. (Joshua Benton) Roth of Girard, Lindsay A. (Ryan) Durbin of Morton, Joshua J. (Joanie Hardy) Roth of Garrett, IN, and Melissa L. Jones of Chatham; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Cecilia Garecht of Crest Hill; one brother, Paul (Cathy) Von De Bur of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
George attended Knox Presbyterian Church and Jerome United Methodist Church. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He worked as a meat cutter at Eisner Jewel Grocery Store.
George loved to camp and travel in the motorhome with Pat and his family all across the US.
Graveside Service: 10:30 am, Friday, August 6, 2021 at Oak Grove Cemetery, in Loami, with Rev. Donn Stephens and Rev. Paula Carmichael officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
