Sharon, two months have gone by and I still cannot believe my very best and dearest friend has left. I knew the last time Matt and I visited with you in the hospital before you went into ICU was going to be the last time we talked. I had so much to talk to you about, but I know that deep in our hearts we knew exactly what each other was saying. My heart is broke, but as you would say, "Carol, you are a strong person and you will go on." Yes! Who in the world am I going to have that will be able to read my mind and finish my sentences like you always did? Who will be there to share our traditional garage sale Pizza Hut cheese sticks? Who will be the one to tell about "Steph's story" when the "Cabrini Gang" gets together? Life is going to be so different for quite a while. You can be assured that we will always have you in our hearts, on our minds, and in our stories. So your ears will be burning a lot - but you can take it! When you have someone as dear to you as you have been to me, it will take a while to overcome. We never needed fancy words, sometimes none at all - just a warm hug - we never needed material things between us, just plain old "soulmate friends". You will always be right with me - telling me your famous line that I was your "Dearest and Oldest Friend". Forever, and ever! I love you!!

Sharon,
I never thought the last time I visited you in the hospital, would in fact be the last time I would see you. I wish I would have hugged you a little longer before I left. I am so blessed to have known you and had you for a friend. In the hospital, we made plans to do things. I am so sorry you did not get the chance. You have inspired me to do things I hadn't done in over 35 years. You made me realize that we are not promised a tomorrow. Dylan and Kayle will never forget you and how much you loved them. I will always love you and miss you. I will do what ever I can to help Ken, Sean, Mandy, Scott, Heather, Dylan and Kayla. I know in my heart that you are at peace and watching over everyone, but it is so hard to believe that you are gone. My heart breaks for your family. Nana was and still is so upset when you passed. She wished it would have been her instead of you. Thank you for always being so loving and kind to Nana. She loves you very much. You are a wonder person and will be missed forever.
By the way, you wouldn't have anything to do with the Cub's losing all thoses games would you?

Sharon was an incredible lady who touched everyone who knew her in some way or another. She was always there when you needed it. She never looked down upon anyone. She treated everyone with respect and dignity. Sharon was our "mom" at work and will never forget everything she has done for us.

Sometimes you meet a friend who loves you just as you are
Two hearts are knit together, no matter when the miles are far.
We met in the early seventies, at jobs no one can remember.
We were born the same year, she in June and me in September.
We loved each other right away, like sisters we neither one had.
And I don't think in all these years at each other we ever got mad.
We were young and life was ahead of us;we shared joys, prayers and fears.
Learning as we walked this way, through our laughter and our tears.
If something was wrong, she always knew in her own special way.
She would call and tell me, "I was thinking of you today."
And back and forth o'er the years, the birthday cards, trips, the calls.
Eating at Vose's, playing Phase Ten, yes, I remember it all.
She reared two sons and I two daughters, praying fervently for them.
The "Memphis" family, never just friends, is what we've always been.
There is no empty feeling of my "sister" though now she's gone.
She ran her course. She finished her task and here her work is done.
But she is waiting with the LORD in heaven's mansions fair.
Gladly waiting on those of us to come and with her share.
Darkness may endure for the night, but the morn brings joy and love.
Look through the tears at LORD Jesus in the glory up above.
So I will treasure memories that time can never mar
For our hearts are knit together, although the miles are far.

Sharon was kind and thoughtful. Every time I was in the hospital she and Ken would come over with a flower arrangement. I have two to remember her. She always liked to go to Aunt Anns Octoberfest.
Mow she is heaven talking to Uncle Bud and her family, telling what all is going on and how well everything is.
She will be sadly missed my all of us.

Dear Uncle Kenny, Sean, Scott, Heather, and family- I am truly sorry and heartbroken over your loss. Your Mom and your entire family have meant so much to me and my family over the years. Aunt Sharon was the sweetest and most loving and caring person I think I have ever met. She loved you all so much. You all were her world as I know she was yours. Anytime me, my mom Patty, brother Daniel, the other Aunt Sharon, Rachel, Rebekah, and Uncle Walt came to stay with you guys, you treated us like we were actually blood relatives. That is the same way we feel about yall. I lost my father when I was 18 and I know what an aweful thing it is to loose a parent so my heart goes out to you all. Aunt Sharon is in Heaven now with God and she is in a much better place than this aweful world. She is watching over all of you. You guys need to make sure you step up and make her proud as you always have. You know that is what she wants of you. I am so sorry I was unable to be there for the funeral it was just impossible for me to be. Uncle Kenny, hopefully soon I will be able to come see you when the IL state fair is there and we can ride some fast scary rides togeather like we used to do when I came down. Scott and Heather I miss you guys and I havent ever seen your children but everyone has told me how beautiful they are and comming from parents like you guys I know they are. Sean, I miss and love you too. I have never met your girlfried but please send her my condolences as well. I love you all so very much and please dont lose hope or faith. Time heals all wounds.

There is a special place in heaven that Sharon now occupies. She was the epitome of Sainthood who put Ken, Scott (Heather), Sean (Mandy) and her grandkids first and foremost. But family and friends were a close second. She knew not one stranger. She was more than my cousin Ken’s wife, she was a true friend. I will never forget the first time I met her when Ken brought her to the house to meet the Moore family. We fell in love with her the second she said “It is a pleasure to meet all of you.” Her love of family and life will live on forever in my heart.

Dearest Ken and family, keep your eyes on Jesus, the lover of our souls. He knows your sorrow and will make a new way for each of you. Sharon is with Him and watching over you as she always did. There is a hole in your lives now, but Sharon left a memory and a legacy of hospitality, love, and generosity that lives on in your lives and in the lives of countless people. I am so blessed to have been a recipient of that grace. I love you all. Patty

I was saddened today to hear of your loss. Sharon was the one person in Horace Mann that I always knew that I could count on when I needed help. God truly blessed us all by allowing us to know Sharon! Her smiling face and bubbly personality brightened the space wherever she was! She was the first person to officially welcome me to Horace Mann and wished me a long career here. She especially holds a special place in my heart when she recently allowed me to leave at a moment's notice to assist my own sister whom I thought was in trouble. It turned out that if I hadn't left work early that morning, my sister would have succeeded in commiting suicide. Sharon allowed my family and me to save my sister for which I will always be eternally grateful. There are many other stories I could tell of my personal relationship with Sharon, but everyone was special to her, especially her family. She was quite a Christian and rest assured she is having a ball in Heaven with all those angels! God bless you all! In Christian love,

I can’t begin to express how saddened we are with the loss of Aunt Sharon! I have so many awesome memories of Aunt Sharon from the slip n’ slide in the front yard, to listening to Elvis Presley and Alabama on the stereo, to all the family get-togethers throughout the years. Aunt Sharon’s love and comfort touched so many people’s lives and for that we are all thankful and blessed! While we grieve her absence here on earth, God celebrates her presence in heaven. Sharon was a wonderful friend, mentor, and co-worker to me. I will greatly miss her cheerful smile, her warm hugs, and the care and concern she always had for anyone who needed it including myself. Sharon was a true gem,and would quietly do things for others and never expected anything in return. Sharon you are dearly missed, but will always be remembered for the wonderful person that you were. Ken, Scott, Shawn and family you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sharon brought so much humor and happiness to us here at Horace Mann. I am so thankful for knowing her. Her love for my children was so heartfelt. She spoke of her family so much, we all felt like we knew each of you too. I will never, ever forget her. She holds a special place in my heart.

My condolences to the Dickerson family. I have known Sharon for many years at Horace Mann and being a recent breast cancer survivor myself, Sharon considered us "sisters" and always, without fail, had a hug for me whenever we passed in the halls. She will be truly missed.

Dear Kenny, Sean & Mandy, and forever friends Scott & Heather,
We are deeply sorry at the loss of such an amazing woman. We can't even express how heartbroken we are over losing someone so special to us. Sharon had the biggest heart and made room for all of us in it. She was truly a "MOM" to all of us kids and was there for us anyway that she could be. She was never without a hug for each one of us. I am so happy that we got to know the Dickerson family through Scott and Heather and have wonderful memories of all the fun times we've spent together. We will forever miss Sharon!
