ANNE DOWNEY Obituary

Anne (Ann) Josephine Downey went peacefully to heaven Dec. 10th, 2013 at home surrounded with love. Anne was born Dec. 16th, 1923 in Boyle Alberta to the late James and Anne McNamara. She was one of sixteen children.

Anne and her girlfriends decided to take a drive across the border and this is when she met the man of her dreams William Walker (Dick) Downey. Mom became known as dad's Brown Eyed Girl and they married Jan. 6th, 1956.

They made there home and family in Alger where they lived for 56 years.

Our mother was a long time active member of the Alger Improvement Club, Burlington Eagles and the Silver Run Grange. Some of her happiest moments were spending time with her family, getting her hair done and cruising around the block of Alger. She enjoyed parades, ice skating and watching Young and Restless. These simple little things always brought smiles and sparkle to her eyes.

Mom, a compassionate caring person has touched many lives. Her heart and doors were always opened to all.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dick Downey, daughter Patty Downey, son-in-law Rick Fetterly and many brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her 3 daughters Cheryl Altringer(Jerry) Tami Fetterly, Cindy Price (Stacy Corning) grandchildren Jason Fetterly, Lacey Knowles, Shana & Jeremy Frye, Justin Price, Jenny Cabral, Jamie Corning and 3 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be Friday, Dec. 13th 9-5. Celebration of life will be Saturday, Dec. 14th at 1:00 p.m. both at Hulbush Funeral Home followed by an interment at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in LaConner.

Bless all of you on your Mothers passing. When I stayed overnight with Patty in grade school she was so wonderful and kind to me. She always had a smile and a hello when we ran into each other! Time will heal and I will always have you and the family in my heart.
Love you all. Gretchen Horen Barden

I know Grama Downey was with us all last night and I know she is soaring with the angels and protecting her loved ones. I am happy to have spent great times with her and doing her hair. Much love to Lacey and all of her family. RIP Anne Downey

I had known Ann and Dick Downey for many years. She and my mom (Etta Schulte) were involved in the Alger Improvement Club until my mom's passing away. I also rode the same school bus that her daughters rode. My father (Vernon Schulte) also knew Dick and Ann since we all lived in Alger. She will be greatly missed.
