B.JOY SEAMSTER Obituary

B.Joy (Beej) Pierson-Seamster was called home to be in the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ with her family and friends by her side on September 11th, 2008 after a courageous battle with Cancer.

She was born on May 12th, 1948 to Dexter and Virginia Mills in Roanoke, Virginia, where she graduated from Roanoke's Fleming High School. She then attended Radford University where she graduated with a B.A. in Music. She was a member of the Roanoke youth symphony and later joined the Roanoke Symphony. B.Joy started her career as a music teacher in Virginia before relocating to Seattle, Washington in 1973, where she played in symphonies and once accompanied Liberace.

B.Joy worked for various permanent staffing agencies for over 20 years where she excelled in management. She was a member of the Association of Temporary Staffing and also received a prestigious award from the National Association of Personnel Consultants. During her years in Seattle she made a huge impact on the business community and forged many relationships that still stand today. In the 1980's she met her current husband Bob Seamster while she was teaching various seminars to prospective job seekers. They relocated to Anacortes in 1999 and were married in 2000. That same year she continued her journey in temporary staffing as a City Manager for Kelly Service Inc. in Bellingham, WA were she remained employed until 2005. During her tenure there she served both as a City Manager and an On-Site Manager for a large industrial company. She was highly respected by her customers, her staff and her temporary employees. In 2003 she was awarded the coveted A.C.E award for Achieving Commercial Excellence in Leadership. It was the highlight of her career and she shared the honor with all of her staff. B.Joy will be fondly remembered in the staffing and business communities where she worked.

When she was not tearing up the world of staffing, B.Joy took great pride in every plant and bush that grew under her care while simultaneously pursuing one of her other passions, her beloved dogs; by starting the Jack Russell Society with a dear friend. B.Joy showed and bred purebred Jack Russell terriers and her Jack Russells always surrounded her.

B.Joy was preceded in death by her parents in Roanoke, VA., and 3 dogs Heidi, Brawl & Groucho and is survived by her beloved husband Robert Seamster, her dogs Bonnie, Jenny, and Sparky the pug at their family home, as well as her only sister, Bonnie Mills and 2 nephews of Roanoke, VA.
There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, September 27th, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at the Northern Peaks Christian Fellowship at 118 North Ball St. in Sedro Woolley, WA located off of Hwy 20.

I was introduced to B. Joy and Brawl in Dec. 1988. We shared many good times together. Her quick wit, wonderful sense of humor and love of life will be sadly missed. She shared with all she knew and helped make them better people. She will now be re-united with her beloved Brawl and Groucho. As much as we will miss her, remember her spirit glows brightly in all of those she touched.

I met BJoy when I worked with her at Staffing Resources in the 1990's. She was an amazing lady. She helped me obtain my Certified Personnel Consultant designation through many hours of mentoring. She made it much easier to study than it should have been due to her wonderful sense of humor. She was always cracking a joke or doing something that made everyone laugh. She was hilarious. When Staffing Resources dissolved, we lost touch. I was very sorry to hear of her passing but I am certain that there are a lot of folks on the other side that BJoy has in stitches!

Remembering a dear friend, professional peer and the "best of the best".....I was always amazed by her ability to 'read'someone and know exactly what steps should be taken to help that individual. There are so many attributes to share...it would take a lifetime to name them all. I am so thankful that BJoy is in my life and will continue to be a messenger of love. Let us celebrate her life !!!

To say that BJoy was a mentor pales in comparison to what she was to so many people that she touched. She shined from head to toe whenever she entered the room or was there. You just had to know who she was. She wasn’t a star, but you were star struck. Other than her loving husband Bob, I believed that I got part of it. I only wish I could have absorbed quarter of what she had.

We will miss you so much. SHINE BRIGHTLY!!!!!

With all my love, Brian Doty

Joy was an important part of my life as a teenager in Roanoke, VA where she taught me violin for years. I, too, played in the Youth Symphony. I remember once she invited me to her home to ride with her and her parents to a Rke Symphony Concert. Her beautiful hair, smile, and musical talent inspired me during my impressionable teenage years. God bless her husband, sister, and nephews.
