EMILY SMITH Obituary

October 20, 1987 -
February 22, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Emily Katherine Smith, age 33, on February 22, 2021.

Emily was born on October 20, 1987, in Mount Vernon, Washington to Brad and Katie Smith (Woll). She joined big brother David and big sister Kristi, as well as a number of cousins who would become playmates and close friends.

Emily was raised in Conway and went to Conway Grade School; she graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 2006. As a teenager, Emily enjoyed snowboarding, attending church youth group, and made two mission trips to Mexico to help at an orphanage.

Emily's gift of service continued into adulthood as she enjoyed volunteering with the Cedardale Fire Department. In 2016 Emily became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Given her caring nature and her aptitude for science, nursing was the perfect fit. Emily worked with and cared for a diverse group including inmates at the Monroe Correctional Complex. She provided end of life care at a number of retirement facilities. Emily was honored to care for her beloved Grandpa Ceasar in his final days, and her extended family will always be grateful for the knowledge and help she provided.

Emily loved animals, especially her dog, Luna. The lights of her life were her nephew and nieces: Evan, Sadie and Georgia. Emily enjoyed nature and hikes with Luna, friends and family; she could be counted on to appreciate an ocean view and especially loved the beaches of California. Time with loved ones was important to Emily. She enjoyed any opportunity to be around her grandparents and extended family for holidays, pool parties and family dinners.

Emily enjoyed learning about the love of Jesus from her mom and Grandma Pat, and while Emily faced struggles during her lifetime, her sense of kindness and caring nature never wavered. Her smile was magic. Emily's family finds comfort in God's gift of eternal life and peace after death.

Emily is survived by parents Katie (Roland) Woll and Brad (Jenn) Smith, siblings David (Eve) Smith and Kristi (Rob) Jennings, and nephew and nieces Evan, Sadie and Georgia, grandma Patricia Smith, as well as numerous cousins and extended family.

Emily was preceded in death by grandparents: Richard H. Smith, Barbara and Jack Horen.

A celebration of life will be held for Emily later this summer.

As a sister, she was a companion, a supporter, and thoughtful.
As a daughter, she was a child of God, loving, and empathetic.
As an auntie, she was a cheerleader, playful, kind and caring.
As a friend, she was loyal, true and adventurous.

A remembrance in Emily's honor can be made to: New Earth Recovery PO Box 1473 Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
