Kenneth E. Shutika, 79, of Tamarac, Florida, passed away on November 13, 2023 at Broward Health Coral Springs (FL) surrounded by his loving family.
Ken was born to Vivian (Shuttleworth) Shutika and Joseph J. Shutika on December 27, 1943 and grew up in Dagus Mines, PA. He was a 1961 graduate of St. Marys High School where he excelled in baseball. On October 12, 1963, Ken married Dorothy A. Wernet in Ridgway, PA. Dorothy and Ken moved to Erie, PA in 1965 where they resided until 1995 when they moved to Sunrise, FL. Ken worked as a machinist and toolmaker for various companies in Erie, PA and South Florida for over 40 years.
Ken was involved in bowling leagues for many years in Pennsylvania. He was the ringer that everyone wanted on their bowling teams, and at least once bowled a perfect game. Ken was a great golfer and made many memories playing with family and friends, scoring a hole-in-one on one occasion. Coaching his grandsons in Little League Baseball was a complete joy. Fishing for snakehead in his backyard canal was a regular pursuit. Over the years he actively participated in several Christian churches. Ken loved his small group and Sunday school class and the friendships made there.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents Vivian and Joseph Shutika, as well as his daughter Beth Shutika Sibio.
Ken is survived by his loving spouse of 60 years Dorothy A. Shutika; his son Kenneth M. Shutika (Debra), his daughter Sharon Edelman (Brad), his daughter Jill Mintsiveris (Dana); seven grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua and Samuel Edelman (Nicole Hedges), John Shutika, Helen Shutika Kobayashi (Nathan), Sophia Mintsiveris, and Alexander Sibio; one great-grandchild, Kenneth Kobayashi; siblings Evelyn Piccolo (Joseph) and Michael Shutika (Debi) of St. Marys; a special uncle Bruce Shuttleworth of Kersey; a son-in-law Stephen Sibio and many other relatives and friends.
