Cory Dundas

1971 - 2018

Cory Joseph Dundas, an extremely brave young man, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2018 at EUP Hospice in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan with family at his side.
Cory was born in Cheboygan, Michigan June 19, 1971 to Don and Patricia (Ward) Dundas while Don was stationed aboard the USCG icebreaker Mackinaw. Cory grew up in the Sault and graduated from Sault Area High School. He was a captain of the football, wrestling and rifle teams and was Valedictorian of his 1989 graduating class. Cory attended Michigan Technological University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Arizona State University where he was a member of the Tau Beta Pi fraternity.
He was employed as a Project Manager for Wheeler Construction in Phoenix, AZ, Granite Construction in Las Vegas, NV and Prince Bridge and Marine in Grand Haven, MI. A promising career and active life were curtailed with the onset of Huntington's Disease, an insidious, neurological illness with no known cure. Cory returned home to the Sault where he lived proudly, independently and without complaint until November, 2014 when he chose to move to Hearthside Assisted Living. In late June, 2018 Cory entered EUP Hospice where he received extraordinary care until his death.
Cory was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, Don Dundas Jr. He is survived by sisters Kim (Dan) LaMarche of Escanaba, MI and Kristine Dundas of the Sault as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was the Godchild of Hubert Rogers who, along with wife Dorothy, watched closely over Cory until their deaths. Particular thanks to Dr. Timothy Tetzlaff and staff, a man with infinite gentleness and understanding, as well as the Hearthside ""family"" where Cory felt at home and EUP Hospice, where he was at peace in that very special environment.
Cory's final wishes have been followed. Hovie Funeral Home has arranged cremation and no services will be held. Please make remembrances in Cory's name to EUP Hospice, 306 W. 12th Ave., Sault Sainte Marie, MI 49783. Too soon taken, his grin and much more will be sorely missed.
