Colleen Samolczyk Obituary

July 4, 1953 - Aug. 19, 2012
WAKARUSA - Colleen Samolczyk, 59, passed away Sunday evening at her home after battling several separate cancers for 21 years. She was born July 4, 1953, in Cromwell, to Lloyd and Barbara (Calbeck) Moore. She married Michael Samolczyk June 12, 1976, in Cromwell. He survives. Also surviving are a son, David (Julia) Samolczyk of Chicago, IL, and a brother, Greg (Christine) Moore of Niles, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Terry Moore. A 1971 graduate of West Noble High School and a 1976 graduate of Indiana University, she earned her LPN degree at Ivy Tech. Colleen worked many years in medical records at Elkhart General Hospital. She had also worked as an LPN at various locations around Elkhart County. She was a longtime and very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Goshen. Her devotion to the church brought her much reward and satisfaction. In her later years she took great enjoyment in caring for her lovely flower gardens. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 202 South Greene Road, Goshen, where a 10 a.m. Friday memorial service will be conducted. Pastor John Hickey will officiate. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery, Kimmel. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County. The Yoder-Culp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.yoderculpfuneralhome.com.
