Ernest Briscoe Obituary
SOUTH BEND - Mr. Ernest William "Bird" Briscoe, 41, of St. Louis, Missouri and a former South Bend resident departed this life, Friday, December 12, 2008 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a 1985 graduate of Clay High School. He leaves to cherish his memories one beautiful daughter, De'ja Briscoe-Thomas; his grandmother, Ernestine Jones; parents: mother, Mildred Briscoe and father, Donald (Mamie) Briscoe Sr.; siblings; Donald (Wanda) Briscoe, Helen Briscoe, Dorothy Briscoe, Michael (Jeannine) Briscoe, Mark Briscoe, Helen Camal Johnson of South Bend, and Rita (Mose) Richardson of Ohio, Curtis (Tina) and James; host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Visitation will be held at Wade Funeral Home in St. Louis, Missouri, December 20, from noon to 3:00 p.m. Funeral services Saturday, December 20, at 3:00 p.m. at Wade Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, at Highland Cemetery. Local arrangements have been entrusted with Alford's Mortuary where bereavement messages may be e-mailed to [email protected] c/o: Briscoe family.

I Will Miss my father, the times we did have together are times that I will never forget. I did not have as much time with my dad that I should have, but the times he and I had were always full of fun, the last time i saw my dad i was 18 years old. I was extremely excited too see him, because i had not seen my dad since i was ten years old.... when I got into his car he looked into my eyes and told me that i was so Beautiful, and when it was time for us to say goodbye i got a my first hug from my dad i felt complete at that very moment, but i never thought it was goodbye forever.... I miss him still. I love you dad always!!!

I want to offer my condolence in the loss of your son Ernie. Ernie was like a brother, but for sure a cousin to us. I can't say how many times our families have played together, from swimming at Pinhook park to relay track races on Diamond. I can't say enough, but it also saddens me to speak of more... To The Briscoe Family,
I am devastated by your (our) loss. Ernest has the sweetest spirit and a way of making anyone laugh no matter what was going in their lives. I met him in middle school, dated him in high school and went to our first prom together. He was the best friend ever. What a gift of life. I can't help but think of his big smile (and dimples) and his hilarious laugh. Whew, he will truly be missed. He is my friend for life. He will forever be in my heart and mind as a lover of life and a loving person...so many wonderful memories. We called him "Bird" because he could run so fast, we surely thought he lifted off of the track and flew to the finish line. I call him "Bird" now because he has the wings of an angel. I hate that I can not be there with you all to help celebrate his life, but you are all in my heart. Be blessed and I love you all so much.

I am so sad to hear about Ernie. He was one of my favorite customers. Always with a smile and always quick to defend us when other customers would hassle. He was a great guy. Sorry to you Monroe.
