Eugene Joyner Oct. 5, 1938 - Mar. 14, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Eugene R. Joyner, 76, residing in South Bend, passed away at 6:50 PM Saturday, March 14, 2015. Eugene was born on October 5, 1938 in Tennessee and has lived in the South Bend area since 1960. On March 30, 1966 in South Bend, he was united in marriage to Shirley Ann (Turner) Joyner, who has preceded him in death. Eugene previously worked as an insulator with the former Thornton Electric Company. Eugene was a member of the New Life Center, South Bend where he faithfully served in the food pantry ministry. Along with his loving wife, Shirley, he was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Deborah Eakright. Eugene is survived by his grandchildren, Anthony Eakright (Fawn) of Mishawaka and Wayne Eakright of South Bend; and four great-grandchildren, Breanna, Savanna, Cody and Layla. Funeral services for Eugene will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615. Pastors Edward Vegh and Philip Ludwick will officiate. There will be one hour of visitation prior to services at the funeral home, beginning at 2:00 PM. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
