SOUTH BEND - Marianne M. Tomaszewski, 88, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 in the Hospice House.

Marianne was born November 1, 1929 in South Bend, to the late Steve and Gladys (Smartz) Kalmar. On May 24, 1952, Marianne married Robert Tomaszewski; he preceded her in death on October 30, 2006. Marianne was also preceded in death by two sons, Henry & Robert Jr.

Survivors of Marianne include her children, Edward (Laurie) Tomaszewski of South Bend, Deborah A. Smith of West Palm Beach, FL, William A. Tomaszewski of South Bend, and James Tomaszewski of South Bend; daughter-in-law, Becky Kamp; grandchildren, Shannan (Brett), Chrystal (Joshua), Miah (Juan), Jenna, BJ (Sara), Tommie, Pam, Danielle, Joe, & Taran; 17 great- grandchildren; and sister, Mardeline (Eugene) Hardig of Myrtle Beach, SC.

Marianne retired in 1991 after 29 years with Concord Cleaners. She was also a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church where she was a member of the Rosary Society and Harvest House. Marianne was an officer of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 357 and member of the West Side Democratic Club and AARP. She enjoyed playing poker with her family and going to the casino. Marianne was a “Fashionista”.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Laurie Tomaszewski, cousin, Sharon Ziolkowski-Jones, and Center for Hospice & Palliative Care for their care of Marianne.

Visitation for Marianne will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 8:00pm in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545 or Miller's Vets, 747 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46601.

When I was a kid I loved coming to visit with my mom.Most of all besides seeing you and my mom cook,I loved being with my cousins',miss you Hank and love you Eddie...and always love you all. Marianne was the best manager Clark's One Hour Martinizing had. She was old school common sense and also a lot of fun. I will never forget the the night Marianne and her husband showed us a night on the town. Never knew those places were real. We love you Marianne.
