Phyllis Seely Obituary

June 1, 1929 - Aug. 12, 2010
MISHAWAKA - Phyllis J. Seely, 81, of Mishawaka, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2010 in her residence. Phyllis was born June 1, 1929, in Decatur, IN. As the former Phyllis J. Chronister, she married Douglas D. Seely, Jr., on January 2, 1955. Phyllis and Douglas were married for thirty-five wonderful years. Douglas passed away on September 11, 1991. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and Bridge, and working cross-word puzzles. During elections she often volunteered to work at the polls. Phyllis is survived by her two children, Douglas D. Seely III, of North Liberty, and Elizabeth Strahla of Mishawaka. Phyllis was a loving and caring grandmother to six grandchildren; Ashley and Stephanie Strahla; Donald, Kimberly, Michelle, and Benjamin Seely. Phyllis was also a great grandmother of one, Anthony Strahla. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, August 16 in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. Mishawaka, from 3 to 5 p.m. A service celebrating Phyllis's life will be held at 5 p.m. in the funeral chapel. Burial will take place at a later date in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger.

You have my deepest sympathy for the loss of your Mom. I had worked with her for a few years at the old South Bend Federal Savings & Loan back in the 70's. I remember her as very nice and friendly and a good worker. I lost my Mom last year and she was the same age. Linda Helenburg
