Barbara Bartosik, 79, of South Bend, entered everlasting rest on Friday, March 27, 2026. She was born in Flensburg, Germany on May 22, 1947, to the late Ludwik and Wanda (Krupinska) Bartosik and moved to the United States in 1950 with her family.

Barbara never married, but is survived by her siblings; Joanna (Charles) Natoli of Fairport, NY and Klem (Carol Carlson) Bartosik of Fishers, IN.

Barbara served as a dedicated teacher at the University of Notre Dame for many years before her retirement, investing deeply in her students and her work. Beyond the classroom, she had a profound appreciation for music and art, which reflected her thoughtful and creative spirit. Barbara was highly intelligent, with a keen mind and a natural artist’s sensibility that shaped how she saw and engaged with the world around her.

Cremation has taken place with a Catholic Mass to honor her life to be scheduled at a later date. Barbara will be laid to rest next to her parents at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Raclin Murphy Museum of Art at the University of Notre Dame in her honor.
