May 20, 1929 - Nov. 14, 2011 MISHAWAKA - Richard N. "Dick" Webber Jr., 82, of Hendersonville, NC, formerly of Mishawaka, IN, died November 14, 2011, at the Elizabeth House, Flat Rock, North Carolina, after a two-month battle with pancreatic and brain cancer. Dick was born May 20, 1929, in New York City. He attended high school at DeWitt Clinton High School, South Bronx, NY, and was a graduate of The Ohio State University Mechanical Engineering program in 1952. Dick was a member of the 1949 and 1950 National Championship Varsity OSU Swim Teams. Dick is the son of the late Marion McElroy Webber and Richard Nicholas Webber Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Rita Francis, and granddaughter, Alex Webber. Dick worked for General Electric for 38 years and retired in 1990 as the National Sales Manager, Motors Division. Dick managed the Sales Office in South Bend from 1974 to his retirement. Dick and Ruth retired and moved to Hendersonville, NC. Dick and Ruth lived in Mishawaka where he served on the South Bend St. Joseph's High School Board and coached little league. Dick and Ruth were parishioners at Little Flower Catholic Church where three of their children were married and many grandchildren were baptized. He was actively involved in the YMCA and Pro Health playing racquetball and Masters Swimming. In retirement Dick promoted healthy lifestyles by returning to competitive swimming. He was known to those who knew him well as a great athlete with the unique ability to teach and coach others. Dick helped create the Slim Chalmers Fund, a charity focused on youth swim instruction through the Henderson County, NC, YMCA. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth H. Webber; sister, Rosemarie Webber Marsiglia; six children, Major General (Retired) Richard E. Webber, Lieutenant Colonel Ronald Webber, Renee Webber Gauchat, Ruthann Webber Weil, Raymond Webber, Robert Webber; seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 7503 Peavine Road, Fairfield Glade, Tennessee.

A second memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 208 7th Ave. West, Hendersonville, NC, with a Roses Ministry reception to immediately follow.
