Joshua Munro Obituary

Joshua Ian Munro, resident of Hull, died unexpectedly Feb. 13. He was 23 years old. Josh was born March 11, 1988, and grew up in Hull. He graduated in 2006 as the Class Salutatorian from Hull High School, where he was active in Drama, Forensics, National Honor Society, South Shore Alliance of Gay and Lesbian Youth, Gay Straight Alliance, Band and Chorus. Josh attended the Commonwealth Honors School at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He was an integral part of the UMASS Belted Galloway Program, graduated Magna cum Laude in 2010 with a BS in Pre-Veterinary Science. Josh then enrolled at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. He was studying Veterinary Medicine. As a boy, Josh spent his summers as a camper and then counselor at the Derby Academy Summer Arts program. Notably, he never missed a day of school from kindergarten on. Most important, Joshua, was a good friend, gentleman and son. He was a bright, generous person whose smile was truly infectious and lit up the room. Friends and family remember him as a great organizer, planning trips, activities, and fun evenings for his peers. Josh will be greatly missed by his father, David M. Munro of Hull; his grandparents, Max and Patricia Munro of Cohasset; and his aunts and uncles, April Manganiello and Derek Brown of Essex and Heather and David Karahalis of Brockton. Josh was the beloved son of the late Shara Gioiosa Munro of Hull. He also leaves his Little Brother Matthew Ruymen of Hadley, who he met through Big Brothers Big Sisters. The family welcomes you to the memorial service and reception at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Sons of Italy Lodge, 88 Chief Justice Highway, Hingham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hull Seaside Animal Rescue (HSAR) at www.hsar.org/donations.html or by mail to P.O. Box 787, Hull, MA 02045.

WHAT A HUGE LOSS
VERY SORRY

March 1, 2012

To Josh's family

As a teacher at Hull High, I remember his carefree smile and positive attitude. He would always offer a cheerful "Hello" whenever I saw him. I was quite proud of his dedication to volunteering at the animal shelter, and for taking the initiative to start a gay/lesbian group at HHS. I also enjoyed his stellar performances at the musical plays.

My heartfelt condolences and thoughtful prayers are with you at this time.
