Stanton Fisher Obituary

Stanton K. Fisher of Middleboro, formerly of Marshfield, died in his home March 31, 2012, at age 75. Mr. Fisher was born in Brockton, was raised in East Bridgewater, and was the son of the late Marion (Fuller) and Lester R. Fisher. In Stans early life he enjoyed spending time outside running and riding his bike with his family. He was an avid musician and played drums in the band, Snow Tonite. He shared his love for music with his family and friends. He enjoyed skiing and taught his wife and all five children how to ski. As his illness progressed, he could be found in his power chair rolling through the streets of Oak Point. He was a great cook and an expert at the grill. His heart was the most full when all of his children and his wife were under one roof. His family was his joy. Those times were made even more joyful if there was a Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots, or Celtics game on. Stan worked for 35 years at Goddard Memorial Hospital in Stoughton as the Laboratory Manger. He was a well-respected microbiologist. He took much pride in his work and thrived when given the opportunity to share his knowledge and teach young people. Stan was the beloved husband of Catherine A. (Murray) Fisher of Middleboro. Father of Scott K. Fisher of ME, David C. Fisher of West Barnstable, Kellie A. Youngman of Harwich, Meghan A. Brandes of Bridgewater and Shannon M. Mackey of ME. He was the brother of the late Miriam Leach and the late Robert Fisher. He is survived by eight much adored grandchildren: Brooke, Maribeth, Dakota, Chase Emilee, Andrew, Michael, Benjamin, and David. He was a wonderful husband, a fantastic father, and a loving grandfather. He was a great friend to all who knew him. He will be so very missed. Visiting hours will be at the Prophett-Chapman Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. Bridgewater, Tuesday, April 2 from 4-8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Bridgewater at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 3. Donations in memory of Stanton may be made to the Bridgewater-Raynham High School Music Department, 166 Mt. Prospect St., Bridgewater, MA 02324. Stan Fisher was my first boss in my new career as a Medical Laboratory Technician. I interned at Goddard Memorial Hospital. He also gave me my first job, while still in college learning, in Microbiology of course. I loved Micro( as we called it) he was always there to answer my questions and teach me what I needed to know. Stan was the best boss i had in this job in the lab. After 7yrs I moved to Plymouth so I eventually had to leave the Goddard. The managers there could not compare to Stan.
Stan made the atmosphere at work comfortable. Always there to answer questions and teach. He made it fun at times, made me laugh. He was a funny man. It warms my heart when I think of him, i will never forget him. He made me the technologist I am.
I have now retired after 40 yrs in my career. Stan is always in my heart, my first great boss!
Much love to his family. I will never forget Stan. ❤❤

I can't believe my mentor is gone. Stan taught me in the Microbiology department in the Lab at Goddard Memorial Hospital. He made me laugh and was such a wonderful person. I am saddened to hear he has passed. My Nicole has another angel to welcome in heaven. She knew Stan also. The many times I had to bring her to the lab for the switch off with my husband.
Katie, so sorry you have lost your warm and loving partner, Sending much love and prayers to you and the girls.

Love you...Michelle HIll
