Papa was always a joy to be around. His light-hearted spirit always brought a big smile to my face and I'm happy that he got to live such a great life. His humor passed throughout us grandkids and our trips to Maine were always such a great time and something I looked forward to every summer. He will be missed but my memories with him will never fade. Here's to you Papa!! XOXO

Walter Mattie was my Uncle. He was married to my father's sister, Rita, and together they would invite me and my younger sister out for ice cream and over to their wonderful home. I will always remember the car rides we took and the moving stories they told us that helped shape my imagination and my desire to be good. I am very moved by the fact that he was recognized for the service he provided in the Navy during WWII. Though I have not seen Uncle Walter in 5 years he will always be an intergral part of my psyche and I will always remember him fondly. My sympathy goes out to his loving family. Uncle Walter was so proud of his children and he especially loved living in PA. He was so pleased with his daughter. So proud. As any one would be. Peace and Love. Cecelia Lynch Wever

Mr. Mattie,
Sir, I didn't know you but I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

My condolences to the family.

walter mattie sold me my very first automobile in 1957 (a 1954 plymouth), while he was a sales associate with harold parker ford in braintree. later when the dealership became lynch and mattie he then sold me two other automobiles. one in 1959 and then another in 1962 (a brand new ford fairlane 500 sedan).
i often recall his pleasant personality and his outstanding negotiating skills when closing a sale whether in the used card lot or in the showroom. he was also a good friend of our family in those days.

i will always remember his pleasant manner and his excellent salesmanship skills.

with condolences,
