David, it is hard to believe that twenty years have come and gone, and you are gone to your eternal rest. It reminds me of Michael Jackson’s song, “Gone too Soon.” I thought we had it all and would make it to eternity. Even when we divorced, my plan was to live in the next neighborhood and be your best friend forever. God laughs when we make plans - you know. All I can say now is thanks for the love, support, and memories that will sustain me for a lifetime. Most importantly, thank you for our two sons, David and Aaron. Without you, I would not have the two greatest gifts that will keep me going for the rest of my life.
With everlasting love,
Alice Bomar

David was such an exceptional educator. He always made time to talk with you and never made you feel as if you had to rush to convey your thoughts. I always looked at him as my "go to" educator because I really could go to him about any questions regarding education. He was such an inspiration to me as well as numerous people. We will miss him dearly.

Dr. David Bomar exemplified the qualities of an educator. He read and studied for the sake of learning, not solely to amass degrees or titles, but because he loved it! However, he didn't stop there. He SHARED that knowledge. He used his writings, his words, and his wisdom to touch the lives of thousands of young people and teachers. David Bomar was truly an exceptional educational leader in South Carolina. We will miss him.
Sincerely,
Carolyn Wilson

Mrs. Bomar:
I had the opportuntiy of meeting David in Paralegal Studies at Spartamburg Methosidt College. He was one of the most respected students in the class. He had a very soft spoken voice and was serious about his studies. I know that he is in a better place. The hymn, "WE Will Understand It Better Bye and Bye", is applicable at this time. Rest assured that time is on our side. We give him back to God for safe keeping until we can meet again.

Dr. Bomar, as I sit here to write this I am reminded of your teachings. My writing was improved so much by you. You taught me more than just English my last two years at Byrnes, you taught me how to better treat my fellow man, inspired me to be the first in my family to go to college and for those things you have forever changed my life. I cannot thank you enough for your years of hard work, and now I rest assured that you are at rest with our heavenly Father. May God bless and comfort the family in this time of loss.

To the family of Dr. Bomar:
My thoughts are with you during this time. Dr. Bomar's AP English class at Broome was one of my favorite classes. He would sing spirituals in class and constantly delight us with his special brand of humor. Knowing him has made me a better teacher. I strive to give my students what he gave me: inspiration and confidence. May he rest in peace.

Dr. Bomar was a wonderful teacher who touched the lives of many. He will be long remembered for his true love of education and ability to help others achieve their personal best. I will never forget his favorite saying, "you just don't listen". Even as a young teacher he knew how to get our attention with that simple phrase! May God forever bless Dr. Bomar, his family and friends, for he was truly a blessing to each of us!

To the Family of David Bomar,
I met David through my aunt, Mrs. Barksdale, many years ago. He was a genius, as we know, but such a nice, polite person as well. I know my aunt is heart-broken by his loss. He was always interesting to talk with, and his writing was so beautiful.
As a believer, I am trusting that God knows best, and we will have to wait to understand why. But know that God is with you and with him. May God continue to bless each one of you with His love and mercy.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
