Audrey WOOD-GAINES Obituary

Audrey passed away on May 16, at her home in Fairwood Assisted Living. She was born in 1931, in London. After the war, she married her true love, Dennis, and they had two daughters. Dennis took a position at Shell Oil and they lived in Holland and Borneo. Then they immigrated to the US to Kirkland (later Bellevue) and had a son. Dennis had a consulting business and worked with the UN to design ports internationally. This meant a lot of travel and sometimes Audrey and the children were able to join or meet in the middle. They hosted a group from the Philippines for the 1974 Expo World's Fair in Spokane. In the late '70s, they opened The Cuttysark, a marine antique shop in Bellevue. They enjoyed being together all of the time! In 1990, they sold the shop and "retired" to the Long Beach Peninsula, where they sold special items to shops up and down the coast. They enjoyed traveling together. After her husband passed away, Audrey moved to Spokane and spent 13 years close to her son and his family. Audrey is survived by daughter, Gillian; daughter, Christine (Jim); son, Kirk (Susan); grandchildren, Jeff (Christine), Amanda (Kevin), Jennifer (Dan), Jacob, Anna; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Kara, Colin, Micah, Lucas, Nathan, and Timmy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis, brother, Peter, and her parents.

The family wishes to thank Fairwood Assisted Living and Horizon Hospice for their care and support.

Audrey treasured her family, hosting them and everyone, and her gardens. In her honor we welcome you to invite family and/or dear friends to your home for tea. The family will have a private ceremony at a later date.
