Barbara SHACKLETT Obituary

SHACKLETT, Barbara Ann (Ludwig) Barbara Ann was born on July 3, 1933 in Kansas City Missouri, to Robert and Grace Ludwig. She went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on October 30, 2018. Barbara truly believed and treasured her personal relationship with our Lord with all her heart, soul, mind and strength. Barbara married her high school sweet heart Doug on January 19, 1951 in Fircrest Washington. Like many wives in the 50's, Barbara was a full time home maker. She embraced this life style, creating a warm and inviting home for her husband and children. Many holidays were spent around the Shacklett family dinner table, sharing stories, laughter and memories. From 1951 to 1967 Barbara and Doug traveled and lived in several different states including, Colorado, New Mexico, Oregon and Idaho. In 1967 the growing family moved to Spokane. In 1987 after 20 years, and the children grown, Barb and Doug moved to Selah, Washington where they ran and co-owned River View Manor, a senior care center. In 1993 they sold Riverview and moved to Couer d Alene, where Doug built them several homes. Barbara's true passion was for her husband, family and friends. She loved to send cards to her loved ones, whether birthday, anniversary, new baby, holidays, thank you notes or just to keep in touch. She took time and care to find the perfect card and to write a special personal message inside each one. Barbara battled three cancers in her life. She was a strong person with strong faith which helped her remain optimistic during the months of chemo. She had a small group of women friends that she called her "prayer group", who prayed for each other regularly. She was in remission for almost 15 years when her cancer returned. On September 27, 2018 Barbara lost her husband and best friend Doug Shacklett after 67 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughters Julie Ann and Karen Patricia, her two grandchildren Andrew and Nicole and great great granddaughter Audrey. She is survived by her daughters Gail Vincent (Cal) of Spokane, Washington, Debra Sjostrom (Jeffrey) of Athol, Idaho, sons Robert Shacklett (Jill) of Spirit Lake, Idaho, and Michael Shacklett ( Anne) of Moreno Valley, California and her sister Patricia Daubert, Spokane Washington. Barb and Doug have 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to Schneidmiller Hospice House of Idaho for their care and kindness during moms last two weeks. The family requests that memorials be sent to Schneidmiller House at 2290 W Prairie Ave, Coeur d' Alene Idaho, 83815. John 14:2-3-2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. We look forward to seeing you again Mom we love you! Yates Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
