Cecile GOFFINET Obituary
Marie Cecile Yvette Labrie Goffinet passed away at Hospice House of Spokane on November 13, 2024, at the age of 79.
Cecile was born to Xavier and Rose-Alma Labrie. She was raised on a dairy farm in Laurierville, Quebec, as the fifth of six children and the only daughter.
After losing her parents at a young age, Cecile joined the convent. After seven years as a Novice, she met Jules Goffinet while visiting family in Massachusetts. They fell in love through letters and were married in 1971. Together, they raised two children, Michael and Susan.
After retirement from military service the family moved to Spokane Valley, where Cecile lived until her death.
Cecile lived a life of service. From volunteering with her childrens' and grandchildrens' schools and extra-curricular activities, to providing care to others as a CNA; as a hairstylist for 35 years and eventually caring for her husband during his final years, and volunteering with organizations that helped with his care, Cecile was always caring for others.
Cecile enjoyed phone calls and walks with friends and family and walking and snuggling her beloved dog, Beau. She was a talented oil and watercolor painter and drawer, and a fantastic cook and baker. She was a skilled and talented hairstylist for 35 years and loved connecting and forming long-lasting relationships with her clients. She was fiercely loyal as a friend, and kind and helpful neighbor and a deeply loved friend to so many!
Cecile was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jules; three brothers, Fernando, Robert and Marcel; her in-laws and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her son, Michael; daughter, Susan (Rick) Brown; granddaughters, Kaia (Jacob) Rosen and Mary Brown; grandson, Max (Tristin and Morgan); two brothers, Eugene and Jean; many family members including nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, and cousins; and many, many dear friends.
The family would like to thank the extraordinary staff at Valley Hospital ER, Deaconess Medical Center and Hospice House of Spokane for their kind and compassionate care of Cecile and family. They'd also like to extend gratitude and condolences to her many friends and family who visited and called her and the family with support and love during the difficult time around her passing.
