Charles HENRY Obituary

Charles Lloyd Henry, age 94, a loving father, passed on to his adventure on November 11, 2022, where he was joined by his wife, Beverly, for their new time together. Lloyd was born on January 2, 1928, in Edmond, OK, to Bertha Estella (Shank) and Dean Albert Henry.

Lloyd began school in Oklahoma and then moved with his family to Grand View, WA at the age of nine. There he continued his education and met the love of his life, Beverly Bruce, while in high school. He graduated in 1947, and that next year, Lloyd and Beverly married on July 25, 1948. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, but Beverly passed just a few months shy of this celebration. Lloyd's love for Beverly had been everlasting, as he was ready to join her in Heaven. Their love brought forth five daughters and one son. Together they experienced many wonderful things and traveled in their later years. In 1956, they moved to Colville and grew from a small farm to a larger working farm where they happily raised their six children. Lloyd got his love of farming from his father and then in high school raised Guernsey's and took home many trophies for his heifers.

Lloyd worked many years as a lineman for different companies, the last being Washington Water Power, now known as Avista. After retiring he logged on the farm and raised cattle and hay.

Lloyd was loyal to his community and served as the PUD commissioner for 26 years. He was proud of his PUD work and that he and his co-workers built up the many water systems around the county that they managed. He and Beverly were also active in the Mill Creek School during its tenure. He loved to share knowledge and worked in a program that offered dictionaries to all 3rd-grade students for many years. He and Beverly were escorts for many trips and shared countless hours of square dancing. With them, new acquaintances soon became longtime friendships.

Lloyd loved to offer kindness and the opportunity for friendship. He worked hard to support his family and showed his love through his guidance, support, and presence. Saturday nights were family game nights, and he was sure to enjoy the fun, candy, and popcorn at the kitchen table with his family surrounding him. Lloyd generated smiles and laughter with his sense of humor and endless joking. He led family bible studies, and his hope was strong, and his faith was great.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly in 2018; his parents, Dean and Bertha Henry; sisters, LaDean, Roeberta, and Elanor and brothers, Albert and Claude.

He is survived by his daughters, Bertha Hinton (Gerald) of Great Falls, MT, Stephanie Skidmore (Dale) of Spokane, WA, Charlene Dawson of Colville, WA, Jayne Deardorff (Daryl) of Colville, WA, Denise Dunham (Philip) of Chewelah, WA, and son, Dean Henry of Colville, WA; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The funeral service for Mr. Charles Lloyd Henry will begin at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 21, 2022, at the Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville, WA. The graveside service and vault interment will follow at the Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville, where he will be laid to rest beside his wife, Beverly. Pastor Shane Moffitt will officiate. Memorial contributions may be given to The Shriner's Children's Hospital. Please visit the online memorial and sign the guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com. So sorry, didn't know til now. Charlene was a close friend in college. Went home with her one weekend and met this wonderful man who seemed to be smiling all the time. I remember attending an auction at a school no longer used and laughed when people were bidding on cases of toilet paper. When I left at the end of the weekend I remember running up and giving him a hug (and I wasn't a hugger!). Loved the whole family and still miss charlie!

Many are the Thanksgiving holidays I had the pleasure of sharing in the Henry home with Bev and Lloyd. There was always room for one more, and I always felt so welcomed. Fun memories are also highlights when I traveled with Bev, Lloyd, Bertha, Jerry and Stevie on a Hawaiian cruise. I never was able to convince him that the cruise we were on was on a "ship" and not a "boat." His responses to that fact were an important part of his personality, and I know he did it to tease me. Practical jokes and laughing teases were just a part of Lloyd's personality. He was quick to ask about and be concerned regarding my family and was sincerely interested in their lives. He was very kind, always, to me and a source of inspiration.
