Daniel Larson Obituary

LARSON, Daniel C.B.
(Age 76)

Passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2010 at Avalon nursing home in Spokane Washington. Dan experienced a brain injury after a fall in Seattle on August 9th, 2010. He struggled in his recovery for the next three months battling recurring infections. He was gracious through each trial, as was noted by his many visitors and the staff at the four hospitals, inpatient rehab, and nursing home where he was cared for during this time. At his side almost constantly were his brother and sister in law Doug and Linda Altman.
Dan was born on July 29th, 1934 in Portland OR. After two years he went back to Norway to be with family, and remained there for the duration of WW2 returning in 1948. His family moved to Rainier, Washington, just south of the State Capital, Olympia. Dan played football in high school, and graduated at the top of his class in 1952. Dan excelled in math, and graduated with a degree in engineering from the University of Washington in 1956.
Dan married Beverly Altman Edwards in 1973, and they joined the LDS church in 1975. Dan and Bev spent many hours in service helping the needy, serving their neighborhood, and worshiping with fellow Christians in Renton and then Deer Park. Dan served as an Elders Quorum President, Branch President, and most recently as a temple worker, and many other capacities over the years.
Dan is survived by two daughters from a previous marriage, Natalie Coan and Jennifer Redding, three step-sons Danny, David, and Dale Edwards, and an older sister Solvieg, who still lives in Norway. He was a loved father, husband, and dear friend to many. We believe that families are eternal, and that Dan is rejoicing at the reunion with his eternal companion, parents, and others who have passed through the veil before him.
His funeral will be at the Riverside Chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Chattaroy, WA on Saturday November 13th, 2010 at 1PM. There is an additional viewing for meeting the family on Friday evening the 12th from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the LAUER FUNERAL HOME at 204 N. Main in Deer Park. Donations are encouraged instead of flowers, to the LDS Humanitarian Aid Fund -" www.providentliving.org -" look under "caring for others" -" humanitarian aid fund.

My wife and I served with Dan and Bev Larson at the Asian Branch of the Renton Washington Stake in Skyway for many years. Those two were miricale workers with the youth in Rainier Valley. I was his Branch Clerk and my wife was in the Primary Program. Those days are long remembered. We even had the youth come out to our farm in Kangley WA to tear down a large rabbit/pig barn. Many folks hereabouts will miss him.

Dan was my room mate at the U of W as well as for some time after we both were working for Boeing. He was a gentle giant and made the task of sharing a pleasure.
We started work at the same time, got our 35th year service award at the same time and retired at about the same time would see each other, but never worked together.
I am a better person for having known this man.
I am sure he is enjoying the promises of Christ
