David CROWDER Obituary

Born in 1979 in Joliet, Illinois to Dave and Deborah (Cartelli) Crowder, David Crowder passed away from cancer Saturday, August 27, 2022. Growing up as the son of a career U.S. Air Force veteran who was stationed at multiple air bases, David had the opportunity to live in many places throughout the Midwest and Spokane, Washington. Graduating in 1997 from Joel E. Ferris High School, David continued his education at Spokane Falls Community College, where he received his Associate's Degree in Business Management in 1999. From 1995 to 2006 David worked for Albertson's Grocery store. He then became a Branch Manager for Insurance Auto Auctions (IAA), in Cedar Falls and Des Moines, IA, Minneapolis, MN, and Spokane Valley, WA. Additionally, he was an Operational Compliance Auditor for IAA, traveling weekly to a different U.S. location. Growing up, David played baseball, soccer, and trumpet. During high school, he switched to the tuba in the concert and marching band and was a participant in the 1997 Tournament of Roses Parade. He was an outdoor enthusiast, enjoying snow and water skiing, RVing, and spending time on his boat at Lake Roosevelt. Additionally, David loved mowing the lawn and maintaining the garden and his neighbors could always count on him to wave and smile when they drove by. An outgoing, generous, kind, and caring person, David was also a member of Opportunity Presbyterian Church in Spokane Valley, WA. David is survived by a brother Brian, sister Nicole, and parents Dave and Deborah. He was preceded in death by both grandfathers John Crowder and Peter Cartelli and grandmother Doris Cartelli. The family would like to thank David's team of doctors and staff for the excellent care and love they gave him. They are Dr. Atkinson, Gourley, Guss, Heller, Christina Ryan, and also his care team at Deaconess Hospital and Hospice of Spokane. The Memorial Service is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Opportunity Presbyterian Church 202 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206. In lieu of flowers, David requested a Memorial gift be made to the Opportunity Presbyterian Church "Building Fund" or Hospice of Spokane. David's final resting place will be Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet, Illinois. To share memories of David and leave condolences for the family, visit www.hennesseyvalley.com.

Dear Crowder, I wish to express my sincerest sympathy to the family as they mourn the loss, of someone incredibly special to them, and may God answer you in the days of distress.

Can´t recall when I first met David and his dad, but they flew out of Spokane on United Airlines A LOT!!!....sometimes separately but more often together and they were always so very nice to our team here. We had a lot of laughs. We have missed seeing them for sure! Our sympathies go out to the Crowder family. God bless! XO. Peggy & Brian Hughes and the United Airlines team out here at the Spokane Airport

With sincerest sympathies from a fellow musician and member of the Tournament of Roses. I remember seeing the Ferris High School Marching Band as I managed "The Corner" as the band turned from Orange Grove to Colorado Blvd. While I certainly did not know David, I know of his heart. When I finished my Tournament of Roses career, I founded a non-profit to support music in public school. It was musicians like David that inspired me to pick up my instruments and start giving back all that music gave to me. David always will be a member of the Tournament of Roses family, and we all lost a petal from our collective rose bush today. I'll be praying for his family.
