David MASINTER Obituary

David was born Wednesday afternoon January 6, 1971, in Honolulu, Hawaii. With the deepest sorrow, we announce that he passed away on Monday afternoon August 30, 2021, in Anchorage, Alaska. Those who knew David lost a shining light in their lives.

He is survived by his wife Judi, his sons Daniel Masinter, Spokane, WA, Marcus Masinter, Spokane, WA, and Zachary Masinter, Plumas Creek, CA. His mother and father Bobbie and David Louis Masinter, Spokane, WA, his sister Stephanie Bentley, Spokane, WA, brother Joseph Masinter and his wife Claudia of Las Vegas, NV, his brother Nathan Masinter of Spokane, WA, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

David spent most of his childhood in southern Louisiana. In high school, he was part of the marching band and loved marching in Mardi Gras Parades. He played trumpet in the Coast Guard band when he was in Bootcamp. He would later use his talent with trumpet and bugle in ceremonies with the Kodiak VFW and American Legion.

In February 1990, David enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and would spend the next 21 years serving his country. He was part of the flight crews aboard HU-25 Falcons, MH-65 Dolphins and HH-60 Jayhawk helicopters, and HC 130 Hercules. He ended his Coast Guard career in Kodiak, Alaska and it became his permanent home.

For the past 10 years, David worked for Radar Alaska installing marine electronics for the fishing and crab fleet on Kodiak. He was a hard worker and the vessel owners depended on him to keep them going.

His love for life and family was the epitome of who he was. He taught his boys the joys of outdoor life, especially fishing.

He was the ultimate playmate; he loved games. Halloween time meant dressing up and treating neighbors to candy and hot dogs. He and Judi and the boys would dress up as Santa and Mrs. Claus and elves and deliver toys to families in need at Christmas. Everyone who knew him liked him, he didn't know a stranger.

He will be in our hearts forever. . .
