Donald Louis Masinter, 92, passed away peacefully on December 17th, 2025, following a brief illness.
Donnie was born at the French Hospital in
New Orleans, Louisiana on November 2nd, 1933, to the late Paul Moses and Odelie Garsaud Masinter. He spent his childhood living in the French Quarter with his grandparents, parents, and older brother where his family owned a meat market in the French Market. They later moved to Gentilly Terrace.
Donnie attended Holy Cross, where he was a star athlete lettering in football and winning the state wrestling championship 3 years in a row. Upon graduating in 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he was stationed in Mobile, Alabama. Following his service, he worked many years as a salesman at Reynolds Aluminum and a motion picture projectionist. Donnie later worked as a deputy at the United States District Court and as a certified polygraph examiner at the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office. In addition to being a hard worker, Donnie was a hands-on father, who enjoyed spending time with his daughters and family members, and he regularly enjoyed meeting his buddies for coffee.
He is survived by his devoted loving wife of 33 years, Lynne Laudumiey North and her children Terrie North Rangel (Mike), Patrick North (Ron Stein), Brett North & Christian North (Lydia).
Donnie is also survived by his two daughters born during his marriage to Ann Skelly Yorsch; Skelly M. Tempereau and Whitney M. Bretz (Robert); grandchildren, Erin Rinder, Jackson Tempereau, Emme Bretz Cummins (Alex), and Amelia Bretz; great-grandsons, Mason Rivera and Robbie Cummins; his brother Milton Masinter (Sherry), and many cousins.
