Gregory Jackson

Gregory Jackson, affectionately known as "Jack," passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the age of 69. A lifelong resident of New Orleans, Gregory was born on April 4, 1956. He grew up Uptown, where he built deep roots, lasting friendships, and a reputation for quiet strength, humility, and an easy sense of humor. His community held him in high regard, and his presence left a gentle mark on everyone he met. Gregory was a proud 1975 graduate of Walter L. Cohen High School, where he played on the basketball team. He later dedicated many years as a laborer before retiring. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Ophelia A. Jackson; his brothers, Daniel Seaberry and Brisco Jackson; and his sister, Yolland Jackson. He leaves to cherish his memories, his brothers, Emmett Jackson, Jaren W. Jackson Sr., and Frank Jackson Sr.; his sister Beverly Ann Payne; his nieces, Latrice R. Foster, Jaune' M. Jackson, Jennifer M. Jackson, Jeannine M. Jackson, and Trinity Y. Jackson; his nephews, Brisco Palmer, Jaren W. Jackson Jr., and Frank Jackson Jr., great-nephew, Kevin Route; along with a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life service at Second Baptist Church, 6th District, 4218 Laurel Street, New Orleans, La. 70115 on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. service time. Rev. Dr. Samuel Gibbs, Jr. Pastor. Bishop Van C. Rousell officiating. Interment: Providence Memorial Park Cemetery, 8200 Airline Dr. Metairie, La. 70003.
