Emma LONG Obituary

Emma (Andres) Long was born to Alois and Rosina Andres on July 23, 1930, in Harr, Germany. Emma was able to remain in her home until her death on January 21, 2024.

Emma met her beloved Richard H. Long while he was in the United States Air Force, stationed at Neubirgurg, Germany.

They had an incredible life raising four children, living in Germany, France, Italy, Texas and Montana, finally retiring from the Air Force and settling in Spokane Washington. They were blessed to be close to their children and grandchildren until 1986, when they moved to Boise Idaho where Richard worked for 9 years, returning to the Spokane Valley in 1995. Richard died suddenly while visiting Germany shortly after retirement in 1995.

Emma kept busy and made many good memories with her "golfing buddies", friends from the Golden Hour where she worked for many years, and her volunteer co-workers from Valley Hospital and the St Mary's garden club. Her last years were spent reading, watching golf, the Gonzaga basketball team, her favorite soccer team Bayern Germany, and the Seahawk's "for grandpa".

Emma is preceded in death by her brother, Peter Andres, her parents, Alois and Rosina, sister, Herta (Andres) Uhl, daughter-in-law, Connie Long, son-in-laws, Kevin Scarcello and David Nordstrom and grandsons, Henry and Hayden Nordstrom.

Emma leaves behind her four children, Reny (Lanny) Archer, Richard (Sherrie) Long, Peggy (Charlie) Hodge and Tina Nordstrom, five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at Thornhill Valley Chapel, on Thursday, February 1st, at 6pm. A rosary service will be held Friday, February 2nd, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, at 12:30 pm, with mass to immediately follow.

Emma was a loved co-worker from the Golden Hour Restaurant. Worked many years with her with lots of fun and laughs. We were family. Sorry missed the memorial and heard about it too late. She was a great woman and an inspiration to all. RIP Emma, your memory lives on. Mona

My sweet Emma! How I will miss your kind words, your sense of humor (we could make each other laugh) and you would tell me you prayed for me each night and I had great comfort knowing that. We left each phone call telling each other that we loved each other. You were so grateful for the family you had and had such kind words about them It has been an honor to have you as my friend and I shall miss you! Till we meet again dear friend.
