John WEEKES Obituary

April 25, 1956 - January 29, 2024

John Marshall Weekes, 67, of Portland, Oregon, passed away unexpectedly on January 29th, 2024.

John was born on April 25th, 1956, to John and Joan Weekes in Spokane, Washington. He was a proud Spokanite; attending Ferris High School and Washington State University.

John had many professional successes. He co-founded an architecture firm, DOWA, was an innovator in K-12 educational design, and was inducted into the College of Fellows at the American Institute of Architects.

While his architectural accomplishments were vast, the most important aspect of his life was and always has been his family. John loved music, comedy, debating, and tuna noodle casseroles. He was an Eagle Scout, golfer, a french horn player, a mentor, and deep thinker. He will be remembered for his quick wit, big smile, and devotion to family.

John M. Weekes is survived by his mother, Joan C. Weekes, his daughters and son-in-law, Lauren and Blake Weekes, and Mackenzie Weekes. A celebration of life will be held in Spokane, Washington in July of 2024.

I was so shocked to hear of John´s death. We grew up neighbors in Spokane. John was my twin´s and my best friend growing up. We went to school together through High School and I still hung out with him while he was in college. He was such a great person and am so sad that he has passed. My heart goes out to his mom and to his kids!
