The Marks are an amazing community family and I share fond memories of them at Prep and Trinity. Joey was my hero at Trinity where he was my partner in intramural basketball. He was taller than all and even bigger hearted. All I had to do was toss the ball high in the air anywhere in his general area and he took it from there. Joey was always a champion in all the ways that count the most. My condolences and prayers to all who love him.

Dear Mark Family,
I am so so saddened to hear of Joe´s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you. He was such a genuinely kind person.
I have fond memories of dating Joe for a while in high school. I first met him at mass over the summer at Saint Al´s. He was a handsome young man with a wonderful smile and was a lot of fun.
I also enjoyed getting to meet your family and work at Dorian´s for a short time.
I could see what a hard worker Joe was and the attention and pride he put into his work at Dorian. It sounds like he continued that care and work ethic his entire life.
May God bless you and keep you during this most difficult time

I miss Joe and will always hold a special place for him in my heart and memory. I enjoyed working on projects with Joe. He had great enthusiasm and energy. Joe could repair or construct anything, the right way. I was continually impressed with his productivity, always while having fun. He had a huge heart. He saw the positive in people and was able to connect. He loved his family and friends and was always happy to hear an update on one of his college buddies. He was fun-loving, generous and loyal - a great friend!

I only have a small memory of Joe. I went to Trinity and Gonzaga Prep and knew him as the big brother of John. I believe he is smiling down on his loved ones and walking with them on their journeys. Peace be with you all and know that you are loved by Joe.

I have fond and happy memories of Joey as his grade school classmate. He was an all around good guy, terrific athlete, and had infectious enthusiasm for life. He used to love race cars and dragsters, and would draw them in class all the time back then. My sympathy for his entire family during this time. -Steve Caruso

Curious Joey/great cook:
I have many stories...here is one I would love to share about " pappa"
Joey loved a great meal with family and had a very good palette. In our 30´s we traveled to Italy to visit my family. Obsessed with the delicious food, he spent most of his time in the kitchen with Nonna Rosa my grandmother mastering , watching, & learning her famous red sauce and cotoletta. Some of his best dishes that he made for his children, Tom & I was; spaghetti alle vongole, chicken cotoletta, pasta with broccoli, beef stroganoff... and his famous mudd pie. Anyone who had the pleasure to have him cook for you...you know what I am talking about. Love you pappa

I´ll always remember our wrestling matches at the fraternity after he beat me in backgammon. But one of the best was when I lived with him and he found his lost kitty - it had been injured badly and the vet told him to put the cat down. He refused and the kitty survived and thrived. He always had a heart for kitties. Rest in peace brother!

I graduated with his sister Holly from Trinity and GPrep. I recall him fondly as a member of the great football team that won it all in 1982. My deepest sympathies to the entire Mark family on behalf of the Basta families who went to school with Joe's siblngs.

I am currently writing a book on Trinity Catholic School covering the years from 1969 to 1997. I never met Joe in person but became acquainted with the Mark family name at Trinity. In the photo I submitted, Joe is back row 4th from the left in his 1981 8th grade class graduation photo. God's peace be with him and all his family and friends.
