Joseph USHER Obituary

USHER, Joseph Emanuel
November 23, 1924-August 21, 2017

Joseph Usher, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 21, 2017. Born in Kasota, MN to Hugh and Josephine Usher. The family moved to Spokane when Joe was two years old, and this is where he stayed. Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved to drive to scenic places all over the Western United States.
Joe served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II, stationed in Bellevue, WA. He loved to tell stories of his experiences in the Coast Guard. He met Jananne Clark the summer of 1946. They were married on February 15, 1947. Later, they were sealed in the Cardston, Alberta, Canada LDS Temple. At 27, while working as an accountant, a friend dared him to take the Police Entrance Exam. Joe never backed down from a dare. He scored high on the test, which started his career with the Spokane Police Department where he served for the next 25 years. He loved being a police officer.
Joe is survived by his wife, Jananne, of 70 years; his children, Steve (Catherine), Greg (Debbie), Tim, Debbie (Joel); 13 grand-children, and 22 1/2 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by all his siblings: Herb, Fern, Harold, Rod, Phyllis, Bill, and Don; and his great-granddaughter Kayleigh Keeble.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 28, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Shadle Park Ward, 2112 W. Francis, Spokane, WA. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 12:00 to 12:45. Dedication of the grave will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.

To Mrs. Usher, Steve, Greg, Tim and Debbie,
I send you my thoughts and prayers from myself and my brother Rick and sister Kay, I was in first grade through High school with Steve and my brother Rick in same grade as Greg and my sister Kay same age as Debbie.
We have fond memories of the Usher family at that time and we remember the root beer Mr. Usher made. Our mother, Elizabeth Martin was a good friend of Mrs. Usher as well.

He will always be with you all.

Hugs,
Larry Martin
