Kathryn Virginia LUNKE

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our full-of-life Kathy. She was beautiful inside and out with a smile and laugh that lit up the room. She was the matriarch of our family who set the example to always be kind, respectful, and loyal to each other. To know her was to love her and losing her is something that will always remain heavy on our hearts.

Kathy was born May 30, 1946, in Vallejo, California, and grew up in South Bend, Washington. She was a hairdresser for 45 years in various cities in Washington. Kathy and Larry settled in Spokane in 1998 to be close to their daughters and four grandchildren.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Larry, who will miss his best friends and life partner every day; two daughters, Karri Clute (Troy) and Joleen English; four grandchildren, Kellen Clute, Rylee English, Kennadie (Trea Thomas-Easly) and Sydnie English; and two great-grandchildren, Tyus and Izzi.

Kathy loved her family more than anything else in the world. She never missed a sports game, important event, or milestone for her family and was always everyone's biggest supporter. Her grandchildren will tell you they could not have had a more fun, adventurous and loving grandmother. Kathy had a special bond with each one and they would all agree that her age never prevented her from trying something new, testing the boundaries, and enjoying the simple pleasures in life. Kathy just wanted to play and have fun until the days she left and that is something she has instilled in each of her family members.

Kathy was a light to every person she encountered. She was admired for being independent and being her authentic self. She never wanted to be the center of attention, just wanted to be included as part of the fun! The women in our family looked up to her she set an example of strength, beauty, and kindness.
