Linda WILLETT Obituary

Linda Kay Willett was born on July 21, 1943, in Seattle, WA, and passed on June 2, 2024, in Spokane, WA.

She graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1962. Linda joyously and lovingly served as the secretary and administrative assistant for the Nine Mile School District at both Nine Mile Elementary and Lakeside High School for more than 20 years. She was a much loved, valued, and actively involved member of the Nine Mile community for more than 40 years and embraced her role as a nurturer, organizer, and mentor to so many. Linda generously shared her love and wisdom with staff, students, and the community at every opportunity and often went out of her way to ensure those who needed inspiration, help, support, encouragement, or just a hug, knew they could count on her.

She and her husband, Steve, were married on February 6, 1965, and lived in their family home in Nine Mile Falls for 46 years until 2023. Linda then moved to the Fairwinds Facility where she made fast friends, took up watercolor painting, and enjoyed sharing her stories and experiences with staff and residents.

Linda is survived by her two sons, Steve and Rick Willett; three grandchildren: Bradley, Mackenzie, and Hailee; her nephew, Brad Smith; and her extensive extended family she loved very much.

Linda's greatest joys in life were her family, her role as a mother, and every opportunity she had to do for and share with others. She loved her home, baking, cooking, tending her yard and flowers, and being outside enjoying nature.

As her final gift to others, Linda requested that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to send a remembrance, please send a donation to Hospice of Spokane- Hospice House in her name.

A service will be held in her memory at 10:30am on Friday, June 7, at Riplinger Funeral Home.

Linda was a loving and caring person to work with. When she was in charge things always went well. She took good care of staff and students alike. She was always gracious and humble. A treasure.

I met Linda thru AARP and we became friends. I loved her home as she did. It was her slice of country paradise. She spoke so lovingly about her boys and her grandkids. She was so open, friendly and fun to be with. I will miss you Linda.

So many great memories with Aunt Winnie. Pepsi & Bacon for breakfast, listening to the police scanner, dune buggies, race cars, cutting wood, amongst so many others. Growing up was so special having her in my life.
