Marianne ANDERSON Obituary

Marianne Anderson of Spokane, Washington passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 22, 2021, with her family by her side. She was 83.

Born Marianne Judith Bussanich on December 3, 1937 in Tacoma, Washington, she was the daughter of John and Merle Bussanich. She attended Lincoln High School with her sister Betty, then studied Business Administration at Washington State University, earning a sought-after position at IBM in Spokane. There she met her beloved husband, Robert (Bob) Anderson, and from there they embarked together on a 58-year journey of family, small business, and travel.

In 1967, Marianne and Bob opened a Hickory Farms store at the Parkade Plaza in downtown Spokane. The business grew along with their family and they were soon raising three kids and operating stores in Washington, Idaho and Montana. They purchased property and built a home overlooking the swaying wheat fields of the Moran Prairie, which they lived in together for 41-years. Each year, Marianne and Bob traveled to their honeymoon spot in Puerto Vallarta and enjoyed summers at Priest Lake, Idaho. They also enjoyed traveling to Marianne's Father's condo in Maui, visiting their children in Seattle and San Francisco, and visiting towns and friends in Europe. Marianne was an active member of her sorority, Phi Delta Pi, PEO and of the Spokane Junior League.

Marianne leaves behind her loving husband Bob, three children Holly (Chris Knapp), Robert (Katie Anderson), and Charlie (Rose Anderson), seven grandchildren (Calahan, Spencer, Lily, Jack, Deuce, Alex and Leo), and her sister (Betty Siemons).

Friends are invited to a Memorial Service at The Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, 6910 S. Ben Burr Rd, Spokane on Thursday, August 5 at 2:00 pm, followed by refreshments and fellowship. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Priest Lake Memory Gardens, P.O. Box 32, Coolin, ID 83821-0032. Online tributes may be made at www.holycrosofspokane.org.

I was so sad to read that Marianne passed away. I worked for Marianne & Bob way back in the Hickory Farm days. The picture is exactly as I remember her. She was a lovely lady and so nice to work with. Sympathy to Bob and family.
