Maxine Brown Obituary

BROWN,
Maxine
(Hughes)

On May 4th, Maxine went home to the Lord's arms. The love of her life was waiting for her, her spouse of 66 years, Bill Brown. She was born in Meyers Falls, WA May 20th, 1924 to Rena and Manly Hughes. She was a middle child of nine children.

She grew up in Kettle Falls and graduated from Colville High School. The day after she turned 19 she and Bill were married. He left for the Navy soon after.

She was a great cook and a fabulous baker. Her family, friends and church came first in her life. Her other loves were her garden and cabin at Priest Lake. Maxine was an avid reader.

She now joins dad and many other family and friends in heaven. Maxine is survived by her sisters Jean Brooks of Denver, CO, Margaret Littlefield of Auburn, WA; her children Kelly (Jackie) Brown, Colbert, WA, Susan Bartol of Pensacola, FL, Patty (Rick) Keir, Spokane, WA, Lori (Jon) Roman, Elk, WA; her grandchildren Nick Brown, Rick (Candace) Brown, Kari (Jeff) Romano, Heather (Allan) Shields, Brandy (Moose) Buckner, Tony (Robyn) Franz, Mena (Ben) Franz, Cole and Ethan Roman; her great-grandchildren Taylor and Gavin Brown, Reese and Rex Romano, Carson and Kendall Shields, Jolyn Franz; numerous nieces, nephews, inlaws, friends, and unofficially adopted kids of all ages.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Women's Guild, 1104 West Heroy, Spokane, WA 99205; Hospice of Spokane, P.O. Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210-2215.

We would like to thank the caregivers at Northpointe and Arbor House, especially Virginia, Michael, Wendy and Sherri. Also, a special thanks to Kris and Luann from Hospice. We will be forever grateful for the care and compassion given to our mom and our family.

Services will be held May 14, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi at 1 p.m., 1104 West Heroy, Spokane, WA.

She was my Grandmother. I had the pleasure of living next door to her most of my childhood. She was a great Woman, Mother, Grandmother, friend & nieghbor. I hope her and my Grandfather Bill are young and beautiful again as they walk through those pearly gates.
