Patrick MALLOY Obituary

November 21, 1951 – February 5, 2025

Patrick Leonard Malloy passed away on February 5, 2025, in Rathdrum, Idaho, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on November 21, 1951, in Astoria, Oregon, to Leonard and Julia (Gregor) Malloy. In 1953, his family moved to Spokane Valley, Washington, where he grew up alongside his siblings, Marlene, John, Dan, and Mary Lou.

Pat graduated from University High School and went on to attend Washington State University. His career began at Fort Vancouver Plywood in Vancouver, Washington, before he and his brothers founded Ceda-Pine Veneer Inc. in Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1976. Later, they took on the management and co-ownership of Idaho Veneer Company in Post Falls, Idaho, working alongside their father and continuing the business after his retirement. Pat played a key role in overseeing the machine and manufacturing operations. He remained dedicated to the business and its family of employees until the mill closed in 2020, marking 67 years of family operation across three generations.

Pat was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Julia Gregor and Bill and Mabel Malloy; as well as his parents, Leonard and Julia "Juel" Malloy. He is survived by children, Jason (Bev), Joe (Amber), Jessica (Mason) Malloy-Wesselman, and Justin. Pat's legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Nathan (Julianna), Lucy, Ryan, and Sadie. He is also survived by his siblings, Marlene (Pat) O'Dea, John (Susie) Malloy, Dan (Wendy) Malloy, and Mary (Dan) Ryan; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosary service will be held at 12:00 PM on March 1, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 304 S. Adams, Spokane Valley, WA. Funeral Mass will follow at 12:30 PM. Reception will be at St. Mary's Adult Center immediately after the service, with burial taking place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 17825 E. Trent Avenue, Spokane Valley, WA 99216.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Way of North Idaho.

Pat's generosity, humor, and love for his family will forever be remembered.

He was the father of my children. A wonderful dad. My sons have lost someone irreplaceable. The rest of what I feel is just mine. Be at peace, Pat. You´ve earned it.
