Our adored mom and grandmother, Stella Templeton, passed away peacefully January 14th, 2012 in Spokane, Wash-ington with her family by her side.

She was born in Stead, New Mexico, the third of eight children to Walter Brown and Dulcie Standiford.

Her parents moved to Western Montana in 1923 and purchased a ranch in Lozeau, Montana, which is still in the family. She attended school in Superior, graduating in 1939.

Stella attended Missoula Modern Business College and was employed by St. Patrick Hospital and the Florence Hotel before retiring from the University of Montana in 1984. She resided in the Missoula area for 50 years before moving to Spokane in 2002.

She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, gardening, oil painting and sewing. She was famous for her butter caramels. Because she always wanted to learn to swim she took lessons when she was in her seventies.

She is survived by her daughters Ella M. Lyle, Hayden, Idaho, Laura J. Sandstrom, Alberton, Montana, Carol A. Grupido, Seattle, Washington and D. Maxine Murphy, Spokane, Washington. She was Grandma T to nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Maxine Shipman and brother Robert Brown of Superior, Montana. She was Aunt Sally to a niece and two nephews. She is preceded in death by granddaughter Shannon Murphy and great-granddaughter Chancy Sandstrom.

We will miss you Mom, each in our own special way and the bond we share will keep your memory close to us.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 1:00pm at the Riverside Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 508 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA.
