News Death Notice

McNEIL, Joseph Richard "Dick" 70 of Springfield passed away peacefully in his residence at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009 following a lengthy illness. He was born October 5, 1938 in Springfield, the son of Arthur and Louise (Fahey) McNeil. He had been employed as purchasing agent for Cooper Energy Services for thirty-nine years retiring in 1996. He was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, served in the US Army, he was a member of Elks Lodge #51 and F.O.E. #397. Survivors include his wife of forty-six years Carol (Roller); daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Mike Mason, Springfield; two grandsons Casey and Josh; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Marty McNeil, Thomas and Nancy McNeil, John and Dorothy McNeil. His extended family, Robert and Barbara Roller, Shirley Roller, Joanne DeWine, Paul and Marilyn Scanlan and numerous nieces and nephews and his loyal dog Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Kevin in 1992, brothers-in- law Donald DeWine and Richard Roller. The family would like to thank all the caregivers involved with Dick's care over the past weeks. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday in the Conroy Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard Church. Burial Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice.

Carol,
Just wanted to let you know my prayers are with you and your family. I met Dick once at the office and spoke to him a couple of times on the phone. He was a very nice gentleman and I know he will be missed. God Bless You and your family.
