Edward J. Tobias, 70, of Hazleton, passed away on Aug. 26 at St. Luke Pavilion, Hazleton.
Born in Hazleton, he was the son of Theresa (Barbarette) Tobias, Hazleton, and the late Edward P. Tobias.
He was a graduate of West Hazleton High School, class of 1972. Edward was an active member of the Thespians and Concert Choir. He was a musician for many years in various bands including Peach, Foxx, Phaze, Island, Whirlwind and the Mudflaps. Edward also taught piano at C&C Music Studio in Hazleton.
Before retiring, Edward was employed for 27 years at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton as a currier.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his father, was his brother, Robert Tobias.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of 46 years, the former Dina Coladonato; son, Eric Tobias and wife, Crystal; daughter, Alicia King and husband, Andrew; grandchildren, Eliana Tobias and Olivia and Jonathan King; sisters-in-law Lucia Longo, Maria Smith, Monica Astorino; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Joseph A. Moran Funeral Home, 229 W. 12th St., Hazleton, with the Rev. Anthony Generose officating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
