Eugene L. Stankavage, 89, of Ringtown, passed away Thursday in Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest, Allentown.
Born in Ringtown on June 21, 1934, he was the son of the late Anthony and Felicia (Petrowsky) Stankavage.
Gene was a graduate of the former Union Township High School. He was a veteran, having served our country in the United States Navy. Gene then worked for PP&L as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement. He then joined his son at the sawmill and enjoyed splitting firewood. In his downtime, he also enjoyed mowing grass, playing the lottery, and going to the casino, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brother, Leo Stankavage; and sister, Florence Stankavage.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Tina (Wesner) Stankavage; son, Eugene C. Stankavage and his wife, Marie, Pattersonville; daughter, Sherry Porpiglia and her husband, Glenn, Clark Summit; five grandchildren, Jolean, Justin, Shana, Kyle and Jessy; one great-grandchild, Hadley; and nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 82 N. Center St, Ringtown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. and will be officiated by the Rev. Dominic Pham. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gene's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
