Marian A. Pekala, 68, of Fern Glen passed away Monday at her sister's residence in Fern Glen following a year-long illness.
Born in Fern Glen on Aug. 15, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Lucille (Yaccino) Pekala and had spent her entire life in Fern Glen.
Marian was a 1976 graduate of Penn State University. She was employed as a behavioral health technician for Northeast Counseling, Nanticoke; and worked with children inside the classroom at Heights-Terrace Elementary School, Hazleton. She was a very active member of St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church, Sugarloaf Twp., where she also taught CCD classes. Marian loved her church and especially enjoyed helping to decorate for different holidays. She was also fond of cooking for her friends and family.
Surviving are her sister, Monica Link, Fern Glen; nephew, Paul Link, Kennett Square; and four dogs who she lovingly referred to as her fur-babies.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Bosco R.C. Church, 573 state Route 93, Sugarloaf Twp.
Interment will follow in Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery, Weston.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass Saturday at the church.
