Barbara Maratea Obituary
Barbara J Maratea, 64, passed away on August 27, 2013 after an extended illness. She is survived by her husband Joseph J. Maratea, son Justin, daughter in law Tiffany and granddaughters Sophia and Lily. She is also survived by her brother Brian Bean and brother-in-law Michael S. Maratea and her dog Indigo. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and JoAnn Bean and a brother Christopher Bean. Barbara graduated form SUNY Cortland with a BA in Education and a Masters Degree from Elmira College. She taught for years at the Spencer-VanEtten School District. She was an avid reader, and a lover of animals. She often said that her two granddaughters gave her the most joy in her life. She will be missed. Calling hours are at the Allen-Manzer Funeral Home on Friday, August 30, 2013 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation the Stray Haven Animal Shelter in Waverly, NY.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Mrs. Maratea was hands down my favorite substitute teacher. She had such a sweet disposition and always with a smile on her face. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
