It is with a heavy heart I write this post. I have lost a very kind, compassionate co-worker and friend. I have known him most of my life. I used to go into the Barber Shop in the early 60's with my Dad and Brother and wait while they were getting their haircuts. I have worked side by side with him for over 30 years. We had a lot of laughs and fun times. He cared very much about every person who came into the Barber Shop. He was always willing to help anyone. I know he will be greatly missed by many. I have yet to see another who could do a flat top as good as him. RIP Jim You will always have a place in my heart.

I have to say goodby to a long ago friend, I don't know where the time has gone but it seems like yesterday that Jimmy and I was sowing our wild oats and having a ball. We practically grew up together before Jim decided to join his Uncle in the hair business. I send my best wishes to his family and my sorrow of his passing. Jim was a great guy and would do anything for you, he will be missed by all.

Jim watched as we grew up. He always had a kind word to say, a "sage" comment on girlfriends, and a way to antagonize Jill that made the Saturday morning wait for the high and tight go by quicker. With Jim's passing we all lost not a barber, but a friend that leaves us with so many good stories/memories as we remember our times in the chairs at Lake Road Unisex. Yeah sure maybe he "nicked" your ear while using the straight razor, perhaps the paper barber collar was too tight, or the wall phone rang and he then ranted about the telemarketers, these were great times with a great guy. Jim rest peacefully knowing that...the ear is not scarred, I have been married 11 years, and my number is not available at call centers! The best memory of all was (hey Jill remember this) when I was a young teenager and asked Jim to channel his urban clipper skills and to carve my football number 14 in to the side of my flat top. As Jim studied his canvas and he turned me away from the mirror, he began to honor my request. The more the clippers engaged each hair, the more confident Jim the Barber looked. At the completion of his masterpiece he spun the chair around, held up the little mirror for me to see his work in the big mirror, I smiled, gave him an affirming nod, and as we both proudly turned to look at Jill, she took a swig of her fountain drink and....about burst in to tears laughing at the both of us. Jim had done his masterful work with the help of the big mirror. The number 1 was well...a 1 and the number 4...well... was of course back words. We all laughed and from then on we stuck to the high and tight. With each passing haircut, bit of advice, fountain drink, and baseball card affixed to the mirror I, like so many others, am proud to have known Jim and to call him a friend. Jim "The Barber" as he was always affectionately be known, will forever be linked to Lake Road and many of our childhoods. At first our bicycles would carry us to him and later our parents cars then eventually we had to pay our own ways. He respected our continued patronage and because of his modesty would often refuse our monetary appreciation for a job well done; this time Jim I insist that you accept one final tip:

Rest in Peace.

Seeing Jim is like going back to family. You always feel love and understood. I have known Jim for a long time and talked about alot of people that we knew and the changes around us. I was always hoping to find out that he was on some beach retired and enjoying life, he was just a hard worker and cared about family deeply. He will be missed.

Elaine and family, It was always a pleasure to go to the Barber Shop for a haircut. Jim always had a story to tell and sometimes you were not sure if it was true or not. I still remember to this day when I took our son Joel for his first haircut. It took Jim, his Uncle Ray and myself to hold him in the chair and when we got home Jill look at him and said what happened. Joel was so tired he could not hold his head up. I think that is when Jill decided to become a barber. Thanks all the memories. RIP Jim we all loved you.

Prayers go out to both his family and "work" family. I worked for Jim for a very short time many years ago. I will never forget his "phone prank"...if a person hung up when he answered the phone he would hand it to you and get the biggest kick out of watching your reaction when you answered and realized no one was there :-) He was a wonderful person and boss.

To Jim's family and co-workers Jill and Dottie. Over the last number of decades, both my Dad and I were regulars at the shop. Looking forward to the people watching and conversations we would hear and have while there. Additionally,Jim was always a true Gentleman and friend to any and all. Heaven truly gained an angle and I am sure he is looking over all those he loves. We will miss you Jim, rest in peace.

Jim, always jovial always interested in you and what you were up to. It was a joy to go there even if you didn't need a haircut, Then of course there was always his antics picking on Jill whom he loved affectionately like a daughter. He will be missed, hard to believe he'd been there for fifty years it seems like only yesterday. He was a good man one of the rare ones. May he rest in peace.
