Susan Allen Obituary
Pittsford, NY
Passed away suddenly surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at age 44. She is survived by her adoring husband, Scott Allen; daughter, Megan, the light of her life; parents, William R. & Margaret K. Steed; brothers and sisters, Frank (Karen) Steed, Sue's twin sister Amy Steed, Molly (Mark) Schenkel, Timothy (Michelle) Steed, and Christopher (Meghan) Steed. Sue loved and cherished her nieces and nephews and will always be their "Aunt Sue Sue", Alexandra, Ryan, Nicholas & Caitlin Steed, Anna Steed, Lauren & Sophie Schenkel, Jacob Steed, Michael & Jessica Wright; mother-in-law, Jenny Allen; sisters-in-law, Sherry Allen, Dawn (Chris) Lembcke; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends too numerous to name. Sue graduated from Notre Dame High School, Elmira, NY and D'Youville College, Buffalo, NY as an RN. Sue worked for University Sports Medicine in Rochester, NY for many years. Special in every way, Sue's bright smile lit up the room and her compassion was felt by all. She is our inspiration.
Sue's Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Rhinecliff & Imperial Dr., Rochester, NY, on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Sue's home town Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church, Franklin St., Elmira, NY on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to Seton Catholic School 165 Rhinecliff Dr., Rochester NY 14618, in her memory. Local arrangements by McInerny Funeral Home. Special thanks to the devoted staff on East 5 at Highland Hospital and to Dr. Cynthia Angel who truly was Sue's "Angel".

I am deeply saddend by the news I recently received of Sue's passing.
Even though I haven't seen you Amy in many years or Sue for even longer, you have been in my thoughts and prayers. After reading the guest book I see that Sue continued to be the sweet, loving, compassionate girl I knew in our childhood. What I remember the most is her genuine kindness and acceptance of others. May her unconditional love live on in all who knew her. May the Grace of God shine on you all and give you peace.

To Sue's family: I am so very sorry for your loss. She was my coworker,my patient, my friend. She never showed self-pity. I called to cheer her up but found myself feeling better after talking to HER. I will never forget her smile, her laugh, her care and genuine concern for others. We shared lots of laughs at St. Patrick's, and on occasion I would bump into her up here in Buffalo while she was at D'Youville and I was at Canisius. She was a great girl. As I write this note to you, we are in Canada, but the news of Susan's passing has reached us here. She touched everyone, who had the privilege of meeting her, in such a lasting way. I met Sue when I was patient at University Sports Medicine, but I am a nurse too. Upon meeting Sue, I could instantly sense she was one of the best and a most special kind of nurse and person. We, as nurses and caregivers, can sense that about one another. Although her presence in my life was short, she made a lasting impact as I know she did in all of the lives she touched.
