Thomas Lynch Obituary
Longtime resident of Horseheads, NY passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday morning, July 13, 2014, at the age of 74. Tom was born on August 15, 1939 in Elmira, NY a son of the late Joseph and Virginia Jones Lynch. He served his country honorably with the US Army and was a proud 50 plus year member and company treasurer of the Horseheads Fire Department, earning the nickname the "General". Tom was the owner/proprietor of Hibbard's Hardware Store in Hanover Square, which was established in 1871. After retiring, Tom was a devoted school bus driver for the Horseheads Transportation Dept. for 14 years. He was predeceased by his sister, Janne Christiansen. Tom is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Margaret Mary Gizzie Lynch; his children, Alecia (Gary) Archambeault with their children Christian and Alexa of Horseheads, NY, Julie Ann Lynch and son Anthony "Bigs" of Big Flats, NY, Margaret (Bob) DeSanto with son Mikael of Elmira, NY, Christopher Lynch of Horseheads, NY and Michael (Francine) Lynch with their children Alexandra, Rose and Gehrig; in-laws, Julie (Joe) Argento and Joe and (Barbara) Gizzie; and special and lifelong friend, Tom Skidmore along with his wife, Donna and daughter, Amy; and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Friday, July 18, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. Tom's Funeral Services will be held at the Horseheads Village Fire Dept. on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Bill Lutz. He will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, NY immediately with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the Horseheads Fire and Rescue Co., 134 N. Main St, Horseheads, NY 14845 in Tom's memory. Condolences and words of comfort may be expressed in Tom's Book of Memories at www.sullivansfuneralhome.com.

Dear marge and family. ....John and I are saddened to hear of Tom's passing......I would have loved to have seen him one more time....we have fun memories from the times john and I and kids came up for a few days......always had a great time....playing cards to the wee hours..........lost track of our friendship for a while and I am sorry for that.....tom what such a fun guy.

When i first met Tom i cried...he was so "slim" with a huge head:))...but once he was initiated into our family, at a Muscarella picnic..where i believe they cut off his pants nd dunked him in an ice cooler....that all changed...we fed his body to be insinc with his head...we welcomed him as he did us...from Sundown" weekend on Broad St...to 20 + yrs. every Labor Day weekrnd at Woodgate Rd....sometimes 90 or more of us...cooking breakfast on a 24" skillet on the Weber grill...thank you for all the love nd wonderful family memories
