Ruth Asche Obituary

Ruth Trainer Asche of Denton, Maryland, passed surrounded by love and peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 27, 2025. She was 99 years old.

Ruth was born in Philadelphia, PA, on July 28, 1925, to John and Ester Trainer, she was raised with love and joy in Pennsauken, NJ. Ruth had many odd jobs growing up, including being a soda jerk at the local soda fountain, a boss at a blueberry farm, and even worked at the library of Congress in Washington DC.

She attended Montclair State Teachers college and graduated in 1947. Upon graduation, she was accepted to a teaching position at the Cordova High School, so she moved to Cordova MD. In Cordova, at an ice-skating event, she met the love of her life, Alfred Asche and they married on May 10, 1950. They celebrated 71 years of marriage.

They went on to have five children, David (Cathy), Michael (Ruthanne), Allen deceased, John (Penny) and Mary Elizabeth (Billie). The family has grown to 9 grandchildren, Melanie (Paul), David, Kyleen, Rayelle (Walt), John Jr, (Maddie), Mark (Crystal), Cindy (Tim), Brooks (Lindsey) and Scott (Laura), 16 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. All of whom they loved very much.

Ruth and Alfred started Modern Feed Service/Wayne Feeds in 1950 and together ran this business until 1972 when Ruth's love for antiques took over the warehouses, and Mill Antiques was started. During this time, they had the first tricycle Ag sprayers and mobile feed grinders on the Eastern Shore, ran Miracle Water, a water refining company, Ruth drove a milk truck, and together ran many other ventures. Ruth and Alfred had Mill Antiques until their retirement in 1998, with every vacation looking for new treasures to bring back to the store in Cordova.

Alfred and Ruth moved to Denton Maryland in 1999 to live a very happy remainder of their very long lives. They volunteered for Meals on Wheels and were awarded "Caroline County's Most Beautiful People" Award for their volunteering in the Community.

Ruth was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Easton Maryland. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ester Trainer, her sister, Betsy Burdette, her brother, John Trainer Jr, her husband, Alfred Asche Jr, and her son Allen Mark Asche. In addition, Ruth had a very special group of caregivers for the past 4 years which have also become very special family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Moore Funeral Home, P.A. 12 S. 2nd St. Denton, MD on Thursday, March 6th, with visitation from 12 to 1pm, service at 1, and internment at Woodlawn Memorial Park following.
