Daniel Friedrich Grebner, age 22, of Starkville, MS, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2025.
Daniel was born in Starkville on January 24, 2003, and graduated from Starkville High School in May of 2021. He earned his B.S. in Forestry with a concentration in Wildlife Management at Mississippi State University in May of 2025, became a Mississippi Registered Forester, and, at the time of his passing, was employed as a forester by Weyerhaeuser Corporation in Hattiesburg, MS, where he had served as an intern during the summer of 2024.
Daniel is preceded in death by his brother Wayne Myhre III, his maternal grandfather George Daniel Conner and his paternal grandparents Donald and Ann Grebner.
Daniel is survived by his parents Donald and Brenda Grebner, his brother Karl Grebner, sisters Kristin Nyholm and Amanda Myhre, his grandmother Annie Pearl Conner, uncles Danny (Wendy) and Brad Conner, aunts Dawn Grebner (Jay Ramsperger), Debbie Kirk (Stanley) and Rhonda Conner, godfather Andrew Friedrich, many cousins, and 6 nieces and nephews.
Prior to enrolling at MSU in the fall of 2021, Daniel was highly active in the Boy Scouts of America. At the age of 15, he became an Eagle Scout with Troop 27 and served as a youth leader in the Pushmataha Area Council until he turned 21. Daniel was a leader who stepped up when there was a need. He was always a caring person who was tremendously funny. Even though he was born a Mississippian, Daniel was an avid New England sports fan like his father. During his teen years, he took great interest in deer hunting and fishing. He was always looking forward to the next season and had recently learned that duck hunting was his favorite pastime. Daniel also enjoyed cooking, especially venison and duck recipes. He is much loved by all his family and many people in the Starkville/MSU community.
Visitation is scheduled at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville on Monday, July 7, 2025, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a service in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Union Hill Cemetery in Gholson, MS, at 3:00 p.m.
