Douglas Gene Powers

Douglas Gene Powers, 49, passed away on May 16th, 2022, following a heart attack. Douglas' family and loved ones take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and his long-term suffering is over.
Douglas was born in New York City, on June 21st, 1972. His early years were spent in northern New Jersey until his family relocated to Lewisville, TX in 1979.
Douglas graduated from Lewisville High School in 1990 and continued his education at Baylor University and the University of North Texas. He had a variety of jobs over the years, and his most-liked career focused on medical and engineering recruiting.
Douglas's survivors include his parents, Larry Gene Powers and Grace Kelley Powers of Lewisville; his brother, Charles Richard Powers of Denton, TX; sister, Elizabeth Powers Wade of Highland Village, TX; Elizabeth's husband, Richard A. Wade, and his nephews, Ethan Hunter Wade and Spencer Liam Wade. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gene Reed Powers and Anna Sue Powers of Homewood, Illinois, and his maternal grandparents, Richard Gilman Kelley and Mary Farr Kelley of East Kingston, NH.
Doug's constant and faithful companion for the last 13 years was his dog, Bandit.
Douglas was a great friend to many and loved by all who knew him. He had an engaging, charismatic personality and loved to tell a good story. He enjoyed nature, listening to and playing music, and spending time with friends and family.
There will be a Celebration of Douglas' Life at First United Methodist Church, Lewisville, Texas on Sunday, June 26 at 2pm. https://www.firstlewisville.org/
In lieu of flowers, Douglas's family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association or charity of their choice.
